Bachelorette Party you'll hate?

So my wedding isn't for a LONG time, not until June 2013! However, my BFF and I have known FOREVER that we would be eachother's MOHs and obviously are already discussing details.  She wants to throw an "irresponsible/drunken/penis decorated" party (her words).  I have a young son (he will be a little over 3 at the time of the wedding) and will be finishing school/putting finishing touches on the wedding.  I'm also not the type of person who likes to go out and drink- I'm light weight, I get sick easily, and I just don't find it fun.  I'd prefer a day at the spa or a dinner out with the bridesmaids.  How do I impress this upon her? I realize it's her call, but I don't want to have a bachelorette party I hate.

  • You could just tell her that a drunkfest isn't something that interests you and you'd prefer something low-key. You can always decline the party.

  • I have so much trouble understanding "friends" that throw you a party that is the style they would want and not what you would want.  If they are a true friend, they will want to give you the kind of bach party you want.  You need to kindly explain to her that her idea for the party is not one that you would enjoy or feel comfortable at.  Let her know you appreciate her being willing to throw you a bach party and kindly suggest alternatives. If she's unwilling to understand that, then just decline the party.  I'm not a drunk-fest type girl either.  I suggested going out to diner and a concert for my party, so that's what we're doing.
  • I don't agree with the bride giving the bachelorette party planners ideas that should only be done, but I do agree that if you tell her that you're certainly not interested in what she has planned... give her 2-3 other ideas that she can go off of that you would enjoy.
  • The thing I dislike most is when people say "oh the party isn't for you its mostly for the bridesmaids/groomsmen" I'm like what???? If that's the case, then go out without me. If I were you I'd just let her know it's not your style and you would rather have a relaxing weekend instead.
