    Nope.

For starters, engagement parties are thrown for you and not by you.  Beyond that, something like that shouldn't be a potluck.

Throw a party.  Throw a potluck or bbq or  combo.  But it can't be an engagement party.

People might be surprised and happy you are moving forward with your plans, but I don't think you need to throw a party for yourself to celebrate lol.

    I agree with pp. :)

Its to late for the E-party. And you should not be throwing your own parties that are wedding related at all. You can throw a party or have a pot luck but it can't have anything to do with your wedding.

If you want to remind people you are still engaged and you have finally made arrangements, why not just send out save the dates?

I agree with RetreadBride. I would do a the countdown begins party. I don't think it's too late for someone to throw an engagement party. I've been engaged for over a year and my sisters are throwing me an engagemennt party in March 2012. I am getting married in October 2012. I think it helps that not all my family and friends knew we were engaged since we didn't tell many people until we had a date set. If you want to start the celebrations I think "Let the Games Begin" or the "Final Countdown" or something like that would be cute for a party.
