Honeyfund question...

Is a honeyfund (honeymoon $ registery) done in place of a regular gift registry? Or would you have both? Would you just not bring a real gift to the shower if you buy something on the honeyfund..or like wrap up the piece of paper that says what you bought?? I'm a little confused..just heard about this.. thanks!

There are a lot of threads over on Registering and Gifts that may be helpful to you.  There's a sticky at the top that addresses some of the pros/cons of a honeymoon registry.

For a shower I bring a gift. If there is no registry, I might get creative - maybe crochet a toilet paper roll cover or doilies ; ) I usually give $$ for the wedding gift.

I would recommend you make a small traditional registry for your guest who prefer to gift a gift for the shower or wedding. Those who are inclined to give you $$, will do so, without a a cutesy tactic, like the Honeyfund.

Showers are meant to shower people with gifts, so most peopel prefer to bring something off of a department store registry.

if you do Honeyfund they will bring a "certificate" saying what the gift is for, along with a check (or just a certificate, if they've used their credit card to contribute.). we used Honeyfund because a number of our friends prefer using their credit cards as opposed to checks/cash, and it works better for them to have a system set up like that.

I never heard the term honeyfund..cute. If you got them something off the honeyfund then I'd put the certificate in the card that you bring to the shower. I wouldn't "wrap up" the certificate. However, it's your gift, so if you want to wrap it up, then do it!

for a shower, I would still do a gift, mainly because the big part of the shower is the opening and it is a more intimate affair and a bit more personal.

That being said, we are doing a "honeymoon" registry at Upon Our Star (www.uponourstar.com) and I am hoping for wedding gifts, it gets used a lot!
    HTH!
