Jack and Jill Party

My fiance and I are considering having a Jack and Jill party instead of a traditional bridal shower.  I don't feel comfortable having just a bridal shower, so I would like it to be for both of us. 

I was hoping to get opinions on the popular opinion of a male and female bridal shower.  Should I just go with a traditional bridal shower?  Would it be awkard to have the shower be for both of us?

    This is pretty common in the UK. Maybe try a UK wedding site/forum for more ideas. The ones I have been to in the UK usually include games like rounders/cricket/croquet and usually end up with the guys on one side drinking and chatting and the girls on the other doing similar.
