Joint Party thrown by ys?

We live in NC but getting married in Ohio and not a lot of people from NC are invited to the wedding but everyone keeps asking if we are having a bachelor or bachelorette party. No one has offered to do one for either of us here (we both had in other areas already) Would it be wierd for us to throw ourselves a party for everyone to come?

When I say party I mean more like Hey we are going out this night to this bar to relax before the madness of the wedding...want to join?

I don't want it to look odd that we plan it but since no one is offereing and everyone is asking I'm wondering if its okay?

You can't throw yourself a bachelor or bachelorette party. You can throw a "lets all hang out" party if you don't refer to it as a bachelor/bachelorette party. If you just invite people to hang out at a bar with you - the same way you would have invited them to hang out at a bar if you weren't getting married - you should be fine. This would also allow you to invite non-wedding guests since it would not be a pre-wedding party, just a fun night to hang out that happened to be right before your wedding.
