Jack and Jill Shower?

My fiance is excited to be involved with the entire wedding planning process, including the bridal shower - he would love to attend and participate. Traditionally, I know these types of parties involve women only and feminine games. He and I are not all of that, and would like suggestions as to how we can successfully throw what is referred to as a "Jack and Jill" shower, which involves both the bride and groom. We don't have the space to host this gathering ourselves (we are in the market for a house), and we were wondering if anyone has attended a shower like this. Where was it held, and how was it conducted? I would imagine we would keep it casual, but there has to be space for the gifts I know my family will insist on giving us (which we will be very thankful for, as we will be aquiring a new home soon).

Couples showers are awesome but the bride and groom DO NOT plan their own parties. It comes off as greedy and gift-grabby. If family ro friends want to throw you one great, if not don't plan it yourself. Pre-wedding parties are not necessary to get married.

Right, our maid of honor would love to host a bridal shower, but she wanted our opinions on the type of event it should be. She does not want to surprise us in any way, and would like our input on everything.

I figure it would be pretty similar to a bridal shower. The invites are coed, maybe there are some activites that both males and females like. The regular shower games could be played, including some that have the guests doing things while the couple is opening the gifts. The spread would have to be amazing and some good music would help too. It's hard to go wrong, you just have to think about what you, your FI, and your families and friends would like, all while remaining respectful of the host(s) budget.

That's exactly the reason we think it is helpful for the maid of honor to consult us on everything, because we do not want to impose on her pocketbook. She is quite excited, and loves planning parties, plus it will go much more smoothly if everyone is on the same page in the planning stages. She also loves games, and we were thinking of having the guests include a question with their RSVP they would like to add to a "Newlywed Game Show" pool, so we can entertain that way. We would like to have a game that is appropriate to both sexes.

I've attended couples showers and I think they're boring.  Maybe it was the crowd or lack of entertainment, but I just don't care for them.  Hopefully, whoever plans your shower will know how to make it a little more exciting.  Maybe have a battle of the sexes game or something?

The one couples shower I went to was very laid-back and held at someone's house who sort of lived in the country with lots of space. There were drinks and snacks and a couple ongoing games of bags happening in the driveway. They had music playing as well. Toward the middle of it, they did open gifts, but overall, it was just kind of a chill hang-out for their mutual friends (it was hosted by someone else, not the couple). It was fun.
