Wedding shower quetion

My fiance and I have decided that it might be more fun if instead of a bridal shower that we would do a wedding shower for both of us. We are getting married Sept 4,2012 and we are trying to figure out when would we should plan in throwing the shower. Can anyone help?

You guys do NOT throw your own shower(s). If friends or family offer to host a shower for one or both of you, you can accept. However, you absolutely don't throw your own shower or tell others to throw one for you.

If you just want to get together with a bunch of your friends, just throw a party at your house and don't make it wedding-related.

Actually the mother's, my matron of honor, and his sister are throwing the shower. We just were not sure if we were going to do a bridal shower or a wedding shower. And we are unsure as to when we should have the shower.

Well, you asked "when WE should plan in throwing it"
So you can understand our confusion now.

Either way, showers ate usually about two months before the wedding, but I'm sure other knotties have a better time frame.
