Rehersal Dinner Help!!!

Ok i understand having a rehersal dinner is pretty much important but i guess i need ideas of what we can do. my wedding is on a sunday and our venue is probably 1 hour away from my fiances family and 1 hour away from my family it's right in the middle for us. but how should we do a rehersal dinner because we don't really have it in our budget to rent a place out and my venue is allowing us 1 hour for free to reherse. i guess i'm just confused at what we should do. i don't want to travel or have family travel up then have to travel to another far away location to have food. could i just get ideas from someone.

Well...

Rehearsal dinners follow rehearsals.  You could not have a rehearsal if you want - that would then nix the dinner.

You could rehearse elsewhere.  Weddings aren't rocket science - people will understand how it goes.  Could you go to a park, bring some food (rehearsal dinner) and practice there?  Could you pick someone's home to do it at?

Rehearsal dinners don't have to be some fancy shmancy affair.  The food is a thank you to those who have taken time out of their day to rehearse for your wedding.  Pizza, lasagna/salad, bbq = all good ideas for a relaxed and cheaper affair.

I know everyone has a different situation so this may not matter in your case, but traditionally the groom's parents pay for the rehearsal dinner.  Would they be willing to pay for pizza or something at a restaurant near your venue?  It really doesn't need to be formal.

Limiting the number of people you invite to the rehearsal and dinner would also help; I know some people invite any and all family who are already in town already for the wedding the next day, which is nice, but if you're on a tight budget, just stick with the people who are in the wedding, their SOs, and immediate family.

Never ever ask someone to pay for things like this for you.  If your in-laws have not offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner, it would be in poor form to ask them.

The rest of the advice is great!  You only need the wedding party, officiant, parents and their SOs at a rehearsal dinner.
