Weekend Chit Chat

Wohoo, 3-day weekend!!! :)  What's everyone up to?

We are headed to Ikea today to hopefully get me a new desk.  i've had the same desk since I was in middle school and its far too small for my needs now, so I never use it. I'm ready to get a big L-desk so I can spread out.  I haven't been to Ikea in forever so I'm pretty excited. :)

I love Ikea. Right now I'm watching One Tree Hill and trying to power through some of my assignments. I've been so slammed at work that I didn't have time to touch it, then when I got home at night, all I wanted to do was nothing.

This is going to be a long two years

I'm headed to a few of my favorite thrift shops today :) They've been calling me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can find us a headboard.

Everytime I think of IKEA, I think of Whiskey Cake in Plano is! Their food is amazingly d'lish and I can't wait to have it again.

    Good luck on your search!

I'm having strange dreams. Very very strange dreams.

I found our dream house. A friend is house hunting and sent me some links. That started the horrible idea for me to start looking :( Sad thing is that it's totally affordable too! We are about a year or two from buying, but I hate the feeling that I found the "one" and know it's totally unobtainable currently. FAIL

Random, but is it just me or does Madonna look like she has been visiting the plastic surgeon a little too much lately....?

This is going to suck when they get it all straightened out.

Crash, I hear you on the assignments.  I'm so behind on school assingments already and I've only been back at school for a week. :(  By the time I spent 12 hours at school and get home, I'm mentally done for the day.  Then I work 12 hour shifts at work on the days I'm not at school and its the same situation at the end of the day.  I had yesterday afternoon off and I literally slept through it all.  Blah.

MLandCJ, I really want to go to Whiskey Cake!!! They have had mixed reviews on Yelp in the past about their food but the reviews on the cake are always consistently awesome.  I love cake, and now I want it...bad. LOL

What kind of strange dreams are you having?  Are they more on the nightmare side?  Have you started any new medications recently that might have caused this?

Today, we are doing all our shopping:  Central Market, Super Target, Lowe's (again) and Michael's/Hobby Lobby/Jo Ann's (scrapbooking tape--don't know where all mine went!).  Tomorrow, we're having my dad, brother, aunt, uncle, her mother, their two kids, maybe brother's BFF and his wife, and a good friend of mine.  Full house for Aggie football!!!!!  Monday will be a do nothing day.  I've already said it.

We have our first dance lesson this afternoon, we'll see how that goes! I all but had to drag FI to agree. But tonight is filled with Texas Tech football, beer and burgers, so he's excited.

Hooray for college football!!! The Auburn game ended less than an hour ago and I'm still shell-shocked, haha. Close comebacks (as in we scored 10 points- thanks to an onside kick- in the last 3 1/2 minutes!!) are not heart health friendly! Watching the big SEC matchups tonight and then going to the Aggie game tomorrow!

Other than that, my last day of my first week of Insanity is today. Woo! Only 8 more to go... And catching up on schoolwork. And making my address list for my STDs to go out!

I am an unhappy camper. Spent 4 hours in IKEA trying to decide on a desk.  My little ADD brain cannot handle the tiny desk I have now and all the things strewn around the office (and subsequently the apartment) because we have no organization.  FINALLY decided on a desk and sure enough, IKEA doesn't have it in stock.  And better yet, they have no idea when they will be getting in it because apparently they rarely get shipments of this desk and it always sells out quickly.

Soooo yay, wasted a whole day with this IKEA desk adventure only to leave empty handed, I still have nowhere to do any of my school work, and I'm being exceptionally pouty about it.  FI does not understand my ADD brian at all, so he's adding insult to injury right now without meaning to.  Embarassed

I can but shipping costs are $150. :(  Per the website, it says the store should receive more stock the week of Sept 11, which is vastly different info than the lady at the store gave me.  I hope the website is correct though.  I put in my e-mail and phone number to get an update as soon as it gets in.  I just have to figure out where I'm going to study and how to be productive over the next two weeks.

Problem with IKEA right now is it's back to school... so the college kids buy everything up... in Boston you can't find anything in stock anywhere right now!

Went to an awesome beach today and got a lovely shoulder burn, but I have 1 month for it to go away... and then I'll spray tan the lines out. :)

Other than that got my boudoir pics today!!! More to choose from than I thought although I really need to hit the gym... jelly rolls are not sexy. LOL.

Also, so fun to see so many Rangers fans around the Fenway on Friday. Wish I had thought to buy tickets for the game since it was such a beautiful night :)

I found one that I loved at Staples and it matches the IKEA bookshelves that Bill has in the study.

Jen, good point.  I'm a friggin' student but didn't think about associating IKEA with back-to-school.  *headdesk*  Thanks for the link -- I've been scoping it out a bit as we watch Two Pints and I do like some of them.  I really liked one at IKEA but when I saw it set up, it was MUCH bigger depth-wise than I anticipated.  FI already has a massive IKEA desk in our little office, so I didn't want anything that would finish swallowing up the room.  I also realized after looking at that desk that I do want the curved L-shape, and there just don't seem to be many of those.

How did college football scores shake down today?  I'm sadly out of the loop.  All I know is that Tech beat Texas State, but that's not much to brag about.  We don't have cable here so we are very limited on what we watch.

I also found out the hard way about Ikea's shipping costs. I'm looking for some kind of plain white dresser to put inside my walk-in closet. Guess who has one that's perfect, but the shipping is $130? Blah.

I've been online shopping all weekend. After intense research, I ordered a steamer for my floors. I also researched how to fix the problem I was having with my regular vacuum, so I was able to fix it instead of buying another!

So, a boring weekend of cleaning and trying to fix up our rental house. It's cheaper for me to try to find ways to fix what I don't like about it than for us to buy a house.

I wish I had the patience to fix stuff LOL.  Usually I get so frustrated with it all that either FI has to do it or something new gets purchased.  I really want a steam cleaner so I think that might go on the wedding registry.  We've been renting carpet cleaners from Home Depot and last time was the last straw.  The thing smelled so strongly of mildew...so next time it's to Lowe's we go.  You can rent their carpet cleaners for $14.99 (with an online coupon that's easily accessible) and their Bissell's are the top rated ones in the industry.  If we try it and like it, that sucker's going on the registry!

Glad many of you ladies seem to  be having a productive weekend!  I finally mailed out our STDs yesterday... eek!  These months up until the wedding are flying by.  I should have listened to y'all when yo told me that before! ;)

I came home from grocery shopping today to Matt smiling ear to ear. It was strange. He told me he had a surprise for me and lead me to our closet. He opened the door and everything was organized! It was just so clean! Then I realized the entire room was spotless. He even arranged our pillows the way I like them  :)

My jaw hit the floor. All week I had been shoving things in. Everything was shoved to the point where everything would fall out when you opened the door.

Boys are awesome that way (being proud of themselves)!! When I got home from running errands today, FI was super proud of the dinner he had made, the beer he had ready, etc. Cute, cute! Courtney ~ did you find a headboard you were looking for? What style are you going for? I was scouring antique stores today for the wedding and thought of you when I saw headboards!!
