Talking to the bride about her shower

I'm hosting a bridal shower for my friend.  Her wedding is in August of next year.  When would it be appropriate to start talking to her about it?  So far, I've just offered to throw the shower... we haven't discussed dates or anything else yet.  Also, how much input should she have?  I want to include her as much as possible to accommodate her likes , but don't want to make it seem like she's planning her own.

Wait it out. My MOH didn't start talking about mine until about 3 months before we had it. You can start coming up with theme ideas and such, but don't talk to her about it yet. Telling her you'll throw her one is enough for now. Good luck!

I would hold off on talking too much about it. You would probably want to throw it a month or two before the wedding, so I think starting the discussion about 3-4 months prior to the wedding is plenty of time to still get it organized. Plus talking dates wouldn't be helpful yet; many people have no idea what they'll have going on in a year and if you plan on having it at a restaurant or something, many won't book this far out.

I agree to wait a little bit before talking about it. I was asked about the date (for obvious reasons) and whether I wanted any games (some people feel strongly about these), and they asked if I had any special requests (I didn't).
