When to send the invites for bridal shower?

My wedding is in 56 days and my shower is suppose to be on Sunday, January 27th. However, the invitations were just ordered a couple of days ago and won't even be going out until next week. Basically ppl will only have 1.5 - 2 weeks notice for my shower. Will that be enough time? I don't think people will be able to come on that short of notice. Why it has taken this long is beyond me (I'm not throwing my own shower).

    Around here, shower invitations are sent out about 4 weeks ahead of time, with an RSPV date of 1 week prior. It would be nice if the host, or your mom, could give your VIPs a heads up on the shower date. Otherwise, you are the guest of honor and should not worry about these details. Just show up and have fun with whoever is there.
