Bridal Shower Guests

Hello everyone!  I usually just lurk but I have been wondering about this and thought I would ask you guys. 

So my FI comes from a very large family.  He is one of six and his parents also come from big families.  Out of our guest list of 250 3/4 is just his family.  So here is my question I have yet to meet half of the family he is wanting to invite.  Even he isn't that close with a lot of them.  So is it wrong that I don't think they should be invited to the bridal shower?  I alway thought that the shower was for close family and friends to get together so should my FI's family be invited even if I've never met them?

It is polite to invite his mother, grandmother, and sisters if that applies. A shower is  gift giving party and should be close people. It is a great time for his immediate ladies to mingle with yours. This party is for YOUR friends and family in most cases. If I was invited to someones party I did not know I would think "gift grabby". JMHO

Agree with PP. Only invite the ones he/you are close to. You have to stop the GL for your shower at some point, I think people understand that.
