Engagement Party

My parents are hosting mine and my FI's Engagement Party. But my parents are wanting us to help plan it, and my BM's/MOH's have offered to help with decorating etc.

Is it inappropriate that I and my FI are helping plan the party? We don't mind, but we don't know how our guests will feel if they hear about it.

Or that my BM's/MOH's are in on it? I don't really think it's wrong, especially since my parents are pretty much happy to have the extra help...
