Couples Shower Guest List

My FMIL (and her 2 sisters) offered to throw a shower for FI and me, and in their family couples showers are the norm.  I have never been to one.  She said I will just need to provide her with a list of people I would like invited and they will handle the rest.  My concern with a couples shower is that the guest list will be almost as big as the wedding.  Most of our wedding guest list is family who would definitely be invited to showers.  Should I just give her a list of parents and sibilings (with me being adopted and close to biological and adoptive family this is actually a long list)?

I know the wedding is almost 10 months away, I'm just trying to figure this out now in case someone else offers to throw us a shower from my side.  If I know they will be invited to the one thrown by FI's family, I will be able to thank them for the offer but let them know there is already one being planned, or if I know they would not be invited we will be able to accept the offer.

I would only invite the family and close friends (wedding parties).
