Not doing a big rehearsal or rehearsal dinner

We aren't really wanting to have a big, expensive rehearsal dinner, heck we don't really want to have a rehearsal.  Is this normal?  3 out of the 6 people in the wedding are kids, so I feel we kind of need to, but we certainly don't want to waste all day/evening on this.  Also, we don't want to spend a lot of money on dinner....ideas????????????

Re: Not doing a big rehearsal or rehearsal dinner

  • You definitely don't have to do anything big/expensive/time-consuming. But the rehearsal "dinner" is basically for you and your FI to thank the other rehearsal participants for their time and efforts in showing up to rehearse. So it is customary to provide something. I would suggest sandwiches, pizza (and beer, if that's your bag), a BBQ, or something else casual. It could be in your backyard, a casual restaurant, a local park, etc.

  • You don't have to have a rehearsal. It sounds like you have a small WP. The day of, you can tell them where to be and where to walk. We had a couple WP members not able to attend the rehearsal and it was no trouble at all!

If you end up doing a rehearsal, you should host something after but it does not need to be big or fancy. Order in pizza, have a cookout at your place, have a place like Qdoba cater, etc.

  • We are planning a laid back rehearsal dinner, probably just some pizza. My family as well as his is not too big into big do's... We are keeping everything simple and elegant..
