XP: Budget Friendly Bridal Shower

I'm the MOH for one of my friends, and I told her I would like to give her a bridal shower. As far as I know, no one has offered to give her one yet. I think there will probably be about 15 invited, and I'm not wanting to spend a fortune on it since my DH and I don't have a ton of extra money. What are some simple, cheaper food items that you all love to have at parties? What are some other budget-saving tips to hosting a bridal shower?

Also, would people think it's weird if we had it at her house? Her FI and her live in a big house with a HUGE yard out in the country (like 45 minutes from me). Most of her family and people that would be invited live closer to her than to me, and our house isn't big enough to host a party.

Thanks!

Re: XP: Budget Friendly Bridal Shower

  • I'm in the same boat with money, so here are some of my ideas. I am doing a salad, since that's pretty cheap and feeds a lot of people. I'm also doing a sangria for the alcohol drink, because it uses little alcohol per serving. Another trick is to check the dollar stores for plates and stuff. If you have Dollar Tree in your area they have cute bridal shower stuff. Also I don't think it should be a problem to have the shower at her house, unless she has a problem with it. Just ask and make sure she's ok with it!
  • Thanks for the idea for Dollar Tree!  She's the one who actually suggested having it at her house, or her Fiance's parent's house which is next door.  I would vote for her house because I wouldn't feel comfortable hosting a party at someone's house I"ve met once!
