Pampered Chef Bridal Shower??

A friend suggested my bridal shower be a pampered chef type party.  Apparently this is something pampered chef does and it would be fun since FI and I are registering for some Pampered Chef items.  I'm not too sure of the logistics of it though.  Have any of you ever had or been to a Pampered Chef Bridal Shower?  Any ideas/feedback you can give would be helpful.  Thanks!

    Pampered Chef showers are a slick sales technique. The brides friends are subjected to a demo and then are encouraged in front of each other to purchase overpriced merchandise from the bride's wish list. Most of the saleswomen are pushy because of the commission they receive from these parties.

    If you like Pampered Chef products, it's okay to register for them, but the parties are distasteful, in my opinion.

    I was thinking about doing one of these but have since decided not to because I don't want my guests to feel pressured to by gifts for me on the spot. Also, the thought of someone "benefiting" money wise on a shower for me rubs me the wrong way.

    I honestly would never attend a pampered chef bridal shower, and I know a lot of people frown upon them since it's more like a sales pitch than a bridal shower. Most guests like to bring a gift off the registry with them to the shower and have fun mingling with their friends and family instead of listening to a sales pitch then feeling pressured to buy something from the salesperson.

    Ditto MairePoppy, go ahead and register for some Pampered Chef items if you really like them, but don't have a Pampered Chef bridal shower which are as she put it distasteful.

    Thanks for the input ladies!  I didn't think of it this way before, but it really is a quick buck for the sales consultant and awkward for guests who feel pressured to buy me stuff.  I think I'll stick to just registering for pampered chef and having a regular bridal shower.

    Just chiming in:  Keep in mind that their stuff is expensive and some will say it doesn't last.  You can find a lot that Pampered Chef sells at places like Williams Sonoma or BB&B.

    Ditto Banana.  The PC books get passed around a lot at work.  If I find something that really catches my eye, I check BBB first.  They don't sell junk and I can usually get the item for less.  My friend at work?  She is a PC addict and spent over 200.00 last time a book went around.  Love her but think she is nuts.

    I had a pampered chef bridal shower and most of the guest enjoyed it. They thought the best part was not having to go out and buy a gift beforehand. PC has a varity of price ranges so you don't have to spend 100 bucks on something if you don't want to.
    They guests aren't pressured into buying things, at least I didn't think so. Most of mine wanted stuff from pampered chef anyway. A few even bought a wedding present at the same time.

    One of my girlfriends just had a Pampered Chef Bridal Shower. The consultant pressured us to buy very expesnive items not only for the bride, but also for ourselves. She suggested we all buy this air-bake pizza stone that was around $50.

    To me, it's rude. When you have a bridal shower it should be for us to choose something off the registry to "shower" the person with our love and gifts. Not a three hour sales pitch.

    //just my two cents

    It could also depend on the consultant that does the party for you.
