My husband is Philipino and when his family (MIL) threw a shower for me there were over 100 people there and most of them were my MIL's friends-most of them I had never met before.  My MIL had everyone fill out their own TY envelopes and I can't begin to tell you had glad I was for that.  It would have taken me a long time to do it myself and if my MIL would have filled them out, I wouldn't have been able to read who they were addressed to (she has horrible handwriting).
