Cheap/Free Reception Site?

Hey!  I am looking for a reception site in Fort Worth, TX (hopefully more on the West side).  I have looked at so many, but none fit in my budget.  I have decided, I would like something extremely cheap or a free outside spot if possible.  If I needed to rent a spot on a lake or park, I do not mind doing that.  I'd even be interested in a nice back yard/land.  My budget for the reception site would be $500-$1000, at most.  It does not have to be super elegant.  We would like to be able to self cater and bring our own alcohol.  If you know of any specific locations (venues, lake spots, parks, backyards, barns) in the area, that would be so awesome!
Also, if you know of any vendors for tables, chairs, linens, and dance floors (if outside and doesn't have a patio area) that are affordable or running any specials, that'd be great!

Thanks for your help/recommendations in advance.

  • The Brookside Community Center in Hurst is probably the cheapest venue I can think of that a Knottie has actually used on this board.

  • I got married at Special Moments Chapel in Lewisville. It is a all inclusive venue that is very budget friendly. My wedding was no more than 5000.00 total.
  • What is your guest list? If it's not that big, you may be able to rent a house and use a back yard/ deck area.
It may be expensive BUT if you have OOT family that wouldn't mind sharing a home for the weekend, it comes out to around the same price as a hotel.
That's what we did for my brother's rehearsal dinner for his OOT wedding. All of my side of the family rented a 6 bedroom house with a HUGE backyard and then rented tables and chairs. It ended up being 'free' for the venue when you took into account that we all stayed in the house 2 nights. It was the same price as a nice hotel.
  • This is a little out of your budget but you may look at Willow Lake Wedding Gardens in Weatherford, TX. That is where we are having our wedding and it came out to $1,600 for the ceremony & reception space. They allow you to DIY on everything. You can bring your own food and alcohol. They provide tables and chairs there as well and it is included in the $1,600.
  • Thank you all for your help!! I have a reception site booked now.  It just so happens to be WIllow Lakes Gardens :)
If ya'll have any suggestions on a vintage/modern photographer in the area that is within $1000-1500, that'd be awesome!!

    Thanks!

That's great!  For that price point, try Karen Scruggs or Evan Godwin.  If you search this page or the second, you'll probably find threads with other suggestions in that price range.

Lesya Bilder at Cinnamon Dreams Photography is amazing and very versatile. She also happens to be well in your budget. For under $1500 you get 6hrs of wedding coverage and a 2hr engagement session.
