Downtown Dallas Venue

Well it looks like the venue that I was wanting might not be big enough for the size of my wedding party. I was hoping for around 125, but with all of the invitations I found out my parents want to send the wedding might be up to around 200. (I'd complain, but they are paying for everything from wedding to honeymoon...and I do know the people they are inviting) So now I have to re-think my venues.

I am needing something near the downtown dallas area. I want the ceremony and reception in the same place. I do not want a hotel. I have looked at the vender sticky but most seem to be away from here.

I was going to use 2616 commerce (which btw has a new ceremony room and bridal suite which was wonderful for my tastes)

Still need to look at off the grid and hickory street annex to see if they would work. Budget isn't a huge thing. I'm looking to spend around 3,000-5,000. Any more suggestions that I haven't found would be wonderful!

It appears 2616 will hold up to 400. The Penthouse only holds 125, but there are other options.

HSA holds 250. I found something called The Room on Main when I was googling--I have never heard of it but it looks awesome.

Others: Marc Events, Edison's, Cityplace, Dallas Petroleum Club, Lofty Spaces, Old Red Courthouse, Hall of State, Arlington Hall.
  • Check out the room on main or union station in Dallas. Both are in downtown.
  • My reception was at Cityplace and all our guests have said it was hands down the best wedding they've ever attended. =)

They have three options for space, and each one has its own f&b minimum, but I think they're all over $5000.

  • The Room on Main is beautiful! Very modern yet classic at the same time.

I may be wrong, but I think Hickory Street Annex is over this budget? Is 3-5k for venue only or food + venue?

333 First Avenue (pretty much across the street from HSA), Texas Discovery Gardens (click), or a few of the reception areas at Fair Park are within your budget. So is the Arboretum and Dallas Heritage Village.

I thought about these too--but her wedding is in July according to her profile and wasn't sure if they had indoor ceremony options.
  • I used the Old Red and was very happy with them. They will be at the top of your budget, though.

I just booked The Room on Main and absolutely fell in love! It holds up to 300 guests, can have ceremony and reception, has an amazing bridal suite and grooms room, there are floor to ceiling windows along 3 walls and you can take pictures on the roof with downtown Dallas in the background. Also, Lance has been wonderful to work with. My fiance and I were only in town for about a week (we just moved to CA and were visiting for the holidays) and I called him last minute to see if we could view the venue. Not only did Lance meet us after hours one night to show us around, he was also able to squeeze us in for a tasting (you're required to use their caterer, CN Catering, which is amazing!) before we had to fly back out. I would definitely recommend looking into it! I also looked at both Hickory Street Annex and Off the Grid and The Room on Main was by far my favorite!
  • I have e-mailed all of your ideas to see which one works best! I didn't realize the room on main could do ceremony and reception...but looked so lovely when I looked at it online so I will definately have to contact them! And 3-5,000 was just for the venue not for catering. My MOH got married at the old red and I loved it! But I don't want to use her venue so she can keep it special and I'll have my own :)

  • We're having our reception at the Dallas World Aquarium which has 3 different rooms to choose from and all are definitely within your venue budget.

  • Not sure if you have looked at the City Club (fyi it is different from the City Place) which is in the bank of american building on main street. That is where we booked and it's on the 69th floor and has 2 different rooms that can be booked for both ceremony and reception. Hope this helps. Happy hunting!

May be a technical nuance, but I think it is called Tower Club- http://www.clubcorp.com/Clubs/Tower-Club-Dallas Might help when searching for vendors/photographers/examples of weddings here. It is very beautiful and the ceremony/reception options (and views) are phenomenal!
  • Another option is the Belo Mansion which is in the Arts District in downtown. I got married there in November and was very happy with the location, food and service. The minimum there is 10K for rental and food/drink I think (we paid less cause we only had 70 guests).
