Married Ladies :)

For those of you who have already tied the knot.

Quick question....

How many of you had a card box, chest...ect.?

And if you did, how many cards *approx* did you get in a ratio to your guests?

I'm thinking about doing a card box, but I've only been to two weddings....but they were both for 3rd marriages (don't get me started)....

The weddings were VERY small, and I don't remember there being cards or very many presents? I want to know if it's worth going through the trouble of a DIY card box :)

I just got a bird cage from Michaels or Joann's, I can't remember now. It wasn't full to capacity, but there were probably 20 cards from 100 guests.

We did a card box thinking we would get a lot of cards but we got 3 cards.  We did get a lot of presents at the wedding but only 3 cards in my big old card box.Cry

ETA: We had about 110 guest

I did the birdcage thing too.  Probably had about 10 cards in it I think.  Birdcage was super easy.  Buy cage - spray paint - make a sign that says "cards" and tie it on with ribbon.  Couldn't be easier!

If you're having your wedding in a hotel or public place, make sure only you can get in the box/cage.  I've had friends who have had cards taken out by hotel employees or people just passing by!

We're going to be doing it at the YWCA....So it's *kinda* public.

but now i'm not sure i'm going to want to do something DIY for the cards. Maybe just a basket or something. Cards i guess don't seem that popular. And I don't want to stretch my budget and my time for something that can be avoided...

    hmmm....

I'm really glad you asked this question but I was wondering whether I should do one or not!

For my cousin's wedding. My aunt did a stack of boxes and in the bag under a ribbon she had it locked.

I'm not sure how many cards she got, but i think that was nice to have it locked so nothing went missing.

We made our own out of hat boxes, it was pretty lame.  Out of 50 guests or so we had maybe 10 cards.

We had a birdcage that we bought from JoAnns or Hobby Lobby (can't remember).  We had about 160 guests, and probably had 20+ cards to open when we got back from the HM.

Awwww, we had alot of cards!  But since I had a tiny registry, we got mostly money.

I ordered a card box from Etsy and I thought it locked but it didn't.  So I just superglued the top down.  I loved it.

We sat up when we got back to our room and looked at all our cards and it was really fun.

We got a gazillon cards with gift cards in them to the places we registered.  Ok..by gazillion I mean probably 30.

I DIY'd mine with pre-decorated hat boxes from hobby lobby that happened to match our theme.  I cut and stacked them and added ribbon in our colors.

I might do one. But I don't think i'm going to put forth too much money to it. They don't seem to get too much use at the actual wedding lol :)

Thank you - the card box wasn't a huge deal to me because I don't think that it's anything people will pay a lot of attention to anyway.  I figure I will tie a big soft black bow around it and call it a day!

The most recent wedding I have been to had about 150 guests and got probably 40 cards.  Every wedding I have been to has had a box or cage or basket of some type.

I made a card box to go with our travel theme and it cost about $23 for the supplies.

We used a birdcage for our cards, and we got a ton of cards. We probably had about 100 guests, probably went home with about 40 cards.

Yeah, I think I spent like $75 on mine with shipping.  *hangs head in shame*

It was a total splurge.  But I did resell it, so that's something.  Of course, seeing that Bri got hers for $4 makes it all the more ridiculous.  But I wasn't really thinking clearly 2 months before my wedding.  And I knew we would get alot of cards.

At my FI's cousin's wedding, they just used a large glass vase.  It was simple and looked just fine.  The gifts decorated the table themselves.

Wow I'm totally late on this... I was off work yesterday and super busy!  I bought 2 birdcages at Ross the other day. Big and small one!  I love the look of them mainly and I thought it was cute for cards.  They were $15 total!

I bought a box from Hobby Lobby. It was not a card box...but a box that had slits in the top. We used zip ties to keep the lid on and covered with ribbon. It now is a magazine holder in the guest room. I spent no more than $15 or $20 on it. I would say you need one for certain, but don't spend too much.
