Theme has been chosen!!!

So my F and I have finally chosen our wedding theme, which I think now that we have chosen a theme it will be easier to plan. At first we we sticking to Italian Elegance bc my mother suggested it and since our dinner will be Itailian. But in the end the theme wasnt us so we started thinking what theme describes us best...and the winner is Fairty Tale. It's still classy and it's still elegant. He is truly my prince charming he is the reason I smile. So do we have to say on invites that our theme is a fairy tale theme. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this theme work. We want it to be a classic fairy tale but somewhat different bc we aren't very traditonal and we like to surprise and wow people. I don't know how to make the theme work with our venue. So i put the pictures of the venue up here as well as my dress. Comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. The dress will be poofier but i didnt have the poofy thing underneath it. We also have no clue what we will make as centerpieces and favors.

I would be careful not to take it too far.  You could wear a tiara, maybe do something cute with table numbers, your cake, maybe have your first dance be to a song from a fairy tale.

And no, your invitations are not the place to mention your theme, although you could do something cute with the wording and the design.  Since your invitations set the tone for your wedding, your theme should be evident by your stationary without actually having to state it on there.

I am not to big on tiara's so i got a headband instead. What do you mean by not taking it to far? What would be to far?

I mean I wouldn't do all of the above ideas AND have fairy-tale themed favors and centerpieces.  Pick and choose the things you want to incorporate.  Too much is overkill.

I mean this in the nicest way, and I feel bad having to preface it this way.

You don't need a theme for a wedding.  Children's birthday parties have themes (like a princess theme), but weddings don't need them.

With that said, if you still opt to go for a theme, I agree with Stephie.  Subtlety is key.  It is VERY easy to go over-kill on a theme and make it seem like a child's birthday party.  Don't make mention of any theme in an invitation either.

I agree with stephie. I am also doing a fairy tale type theme but it isn't everywhere. It is obvious on our invitations because we have a silhouette of Cinderella and Prince charming but it isn't stated on the invite. We are going to have some Disney music played as well. Our biggest way of using it has been through our monogram. I found the Disney font and used it for our monogram, which is used on the aisle runner, menus, and other paper things. But we aren't having fairy tale centerpieces and favors and I'm not wearing a tiara and things like that. My goal was for it be subtle.

Perhaps try to stick to a classic and elegant theme with the fairy tale theme tossed in. But that is just my opinion :)

Ps Your chapel already looks fairy tale to me, so pretty!!

Yes, I think designing a monogram and incorporating it throughout is a great way to do this!  Also, I love Disney music--I think we had a Knottie walk down the aisle to "Tale as Old as Time" or something recently.  Things like this are a lovely way to incorporate any theme.

You don't want people to forget they are at a wedding and think they're at Disney on Ice. Subtle small things--the invitations to the bridal shower could incorporate your theme well, your shoes (think glass slippers!), cake topper, the text of the place cards, etc.
I guess what sticks out in my mind when it comes to that theme is just elegance. Chandeliers, china, crystal, and soft classical music are a few examples of what I see in my head.

Ideas that I have are: Maybe a sillouite of Cinderella and Prince for a cake topper
sparkly confetti on tables (reminds me of all the sparkles around Cinderella when the fairy godmother transformed her dress into the blue one)
rose petals on tables (Beauty and the Beast)
    like Courtski mentioned crystals...china...music etc
IDK if your reception hall would do it, but if you chose to have A Whole New World played you can maybe incorperate some fog (like on Aladin)
If you do table numbers, or reserved signs you can maybe use an old timey font that looks elegant still...and use quotes love quotes from movies

I'm doing my overall looked based on fairy-tale. What I did was basically use colors that represent royalty. I kind of decided what my definition of fairy-tale was. From there I just found things I liked. (I.E I love eggplant and blues so I am using those colors and peacock feathers as accents. ) I found a "cinderella" like wagon (can't think of the name of what she rode in to the ball) cage that I am using as a card holder

For the shoes I definitely thought "glass slipper" and found some gorgeous sparkly, silver shoes.

I think a good way to do a "theme" is to interpret what it means to you, and finding the pieces, colors etc... that you want. :) hope this is helpful

Sorry hon, but the sparkly confetti and fog seems a bit too much, IMO.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

I like the suggestion of using the "royal" colors, so your wedding has a very luxurious feel.  For your save the dates you could maybe incorporate the, "Tale as Old as Time" line or some other romantic line from a fairy tale.  You are going to be a princess on your wedding day, there's no doubt about that, so you don't need to beat your guests over the head with it.
