Airbrush Makeup or Regular?

Ok so I am looking into having airbrush makeup done for the wedding. I don’t wear a lot of makeup already as it is. And I don’t want to look like I clown but I don’t want to deal with putting it on throughout the day either. What do you suggest? Do you think its better to get airbrush makeup? Or regular makeup done? What does the price range for this? I could be way off but I was thinking maybe $40? I have no idea what this cost. Please tell me your honest opinion.

Re: Airbrush Makeup or Regular?

  • I had regular, and it worked well for me.

But I will always recommend airbrush over regular.  I haven't seen anyone come out looking like a clown yet  :)
  • RE:  Price - I believe that airbrush is $50+
  • Airbrush...all the way! I don't wear a lot of make-up either, and if youmhave someone good do it, who knows the look you're going for, you're not going to look like a clown! My MUA charged me $175, but that was for day of and trial, and included fake eyelashes, which I LOVED!! That said, there are probably lessnexpensive options out there. I used Christie Lee, and she was awesome! She did all of my girls, and the mom's as well, and they all had airbrush done.
  • lol thanks girls! I just want to look natural. I am doing a trial run with the fake eyelashes to see what it looks like on me. So that will be exciting.
  • As someone who rarely wears makeup (and never foundation), I HIGHLY recommend airbrush.  It feels like you're not wearing anything at all!  I did regular makeup for my engagement pictures and it felt like I was wearing ten pounds of gunk.  That was probably the specific makeup girl who applied it, but it was really uncomfortable and rubbed off on everything.  =(

  • Airbrush all the way.  I had it twice and loved it.  I went ahead and had a trial with regular but after having been airbrushed for my E-pics, I knew then that was the way to go.  And my teenage daughter had never worn makeup until my wedding day and she looked beautiful in her airbrush makeup--very natural and just like herself.

You might be able to get it done at a makeup counter for $50, but wedding MUAs charge more like $110 last time I heard.
  • I did airbrush for our e-pics and I will admit, I felt like I looked like a clown.  However, the way it translated in pictures was perfect and it did look really good in our photos.  I do want my MUA to ease up on the drama though for the wedding day.  While it looked good in pictures, I still felt really self-conscious walking around like that, but that's just me being way too sensitive.

  • I did airbrush for my e-pics and regular for my bridals. My photographer said she could tell a huge diffence, and that my natural pink on my cheeks came through strong with the regular.

I did my airbrush at Sephora, and it was $50 (either via gift card or product purchase)

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

  • Amanda/Stephanie: would you guys mind sharing who you used? The makeup looks great in both of your pics!

Angelsong: Same to you, except that I would love to see pics if you are up to sharing (I'm betting you already have but I just don't know where to look)!

    :)

Awww, thanks!  Yes, I was very happy with how I looked in both my wedding and E-Pics.  I used Kristin Colaneri.

Thank you.  =)  I used Angie Williams (awweddinghair.com).  She is really well-priced.  I don't remember what the bridal hair/makeup alone was, but hair and makeup for me, my mom, and five bridesmaids was $795.

  • Thanks ladies! OP, sorry for hogging your thread, but maybe (hopefully?) that helped you as well.

  • I did regular, to save money... I didn't even bother with airbrush, and it lasted all day and I was very happy with it. I also only did half lashes on the suggestion of my make-up artist and it really helped open up my eyes without it looking weird.
