New Year's Goals:

What are you hoping this year will bring?

I want to manage our debts, buy a house, and probably get pregnant.

Re: New Year's Goals:

  • Mine are mostly fitness related. I want to run a 5k this summer, and a 10k by the end of the year. I am currently down 10 lbs since Thanksgiving, and I want to be down 15 more by the wedding, 50 total by my HS reunion this summer, and 75 total by next New Years. For me this means, staying focused on what I (and FI) eat, and staying dedicated to making it to the gym on days I'm not with my trainer.

Professionally, I am going to start working to go independent especially now that I've been certified since July.

I want to read one book a month, which with how busy I am is a feat in and of itself. Which I guess means I need to work on making more time for myself.

And also, I will get our new house organized this year. Some of it may not happen til after the wedding, but it needs to.

  • I want to...

    1.  Get a 4.0 GPA these next two semesters.

    2.  Get our debt paid down.

    3.  Move into a bigger apartment that allows dogs so I can get this puppy: CLICKY.  (I want that dog soooooo bad...anyone want to foster her for 3 months?! LOL)

    4.  Get back to a healthy weight.

  • Love that puppy angelsong.

    My goals are to
Buy a house, buy a car if I need to and either get a raise or a new job.

  • I want to eat more spinach (I don't eat any right now and our optometrist said that both of our numbers were below on a specific reading that can lead towards macular degeneration; he also told me that I needed to wear my sunglasses more.  I told him that I wore them all the times).

I want to lose 40 lbs.

I want to work out 3 days a week.

I want to try Green Monsters three days a week to start.
  • Join 24 hour fitness and I'll work out 3x a week with you Julie!!!

PS My fave spinach combo is a Salad with nuts, fresh spinach, citrus, tomatoes, and sugar free raspberry vinaigrette. I eat it before doing my entree for dinner and it not only gets my spinach intake for the day, but fills me up and helps me eat a smaller dinner.

Amy- I foster for PITC!! Is she at a boarding facility?

ETA: Sorry, I figured it out from the PITC website. They take pretty good care of them at the boarding facilities, I had to leave our fosters there when we went on our honeymoon. Did you notice that they say she was a very special pet at DAS? That means that PITC saved her right before they were about to put her down. She is a cutie though! Let me know if you need any help with their adoption process.

  • For me, I want to pay down our debt & go back to school to become a Nurse Practitioner. Those two seem to be impossible to achieve together though.

  • Angela -- I did notice that it said she was a special pet and thought that might be why.  I can't imagine no one wanting her -- she's so adorable and just seems really lighthearted and loving!  I doubt she'll be available anymore by the time we get a chance to move. :-/  If we relocate within our current apartment community, we wouldn't have to "break our lease."  If we move outside of our current community, we would have to break our lease and pay a huge fee for that.  Our lease is up at the end of May, which is also when we are getting married, so we still have to decide how we're going to handle that.  We may have no choice but to break our lease as it is.

So we'll see.  I'd LOVE to have that sweet girl and FI would absolutely go nuts over her.  He LOVES dogs, especially bigger dogs that like to run and play outside. Smile

  • Wendi--our goals are eerily similar!!
#1 WORK IT!! J and I are going back to our pre-wedding workout regimen and I would love to be in 5K shape by April. My sister's wedding is in June, so I want to be looking good by then, if not sooner. I am feeling pretty crappy in my own skin lately, and I hate it.
#2 SAVE IT!! I want to be debt-free by September (other than my car, which will be paid off in January) so that we can think about more long term financial goals.
#3 READ IT!! With the help of my Nook, I plan on reading 3 books a month...I already have one down for the year and working on #2 today! I will probably get on Good Reads to track my progress :)

    Get it guuuuurl.

I'm killing 2 birds with one stone at this point and taking my Kindle to the gym on elliptical days. I'll see how many chapters I can get in during an hour of workin' it.

  • My goals are pretty similar to everyone else's:

    1) Pay off at least 3 credit cards this year AND stop using them.

    2) Do SOMETHING for at least 45 minutes a day to get my heart rate up- got a Wii balance board this weekend, Wii Fit Plus, and the Zumba fitness game. My goal is to lose 20 lbs by our cruise at Spring Break, and at least 50 lbs by the wedding, especially focusing on my back and arms!

    3) Find a full-time, career related job: won't be easy in this economy, but I'm filling out applications like a madwoman and keeping my fingers crossed.

    4) Figure out where we're living and working after the wedding!

    5) Stop cussing: figured out Sunday night that this won't work during sporting events (stupid Cowboys) but I'm still working on it.
