FFF

I flame the girl at work who kept bragging about how her and her (rich) future husband already have everything they need, and the only reason they registered is because work throws huge showers (like, in the thousands range). And this was right after I was talking about how we are still using stuff I bought when I started college in 2003 and how we basically need a complete kitchen overhaul.

Then I went and looked at their registry, and they registered for ridiculous stuff, like a $300 bowl, a $200 vase, 24 wine glasses, and 32 high ball bar glasses.

  • I flame heading to work today.  Just not ready to have my puffy-eyed, non-makeup-ed face in front of patients.  If I can make it until 5pm, I'm going to consider this a huge feat.  I can do it, I can do it, I can do it...

I flame my BMs for being so awful about this dress situation. I gave them 7 to choose from. Apparently they hate all of them. No reasons, just "we hate them". Back to square one...

Finally, I flame FI's older sister for always trying to one-up me on EVERYTHING. Stop acting like you know everything and I know nothing, it is obnoxious. And stop carrying on irrelevant conversations with me on my FB statuses. If you want to say something, message me, text me, or call me.

I mean, I love wine, but registering for 24? We have a few really nice wine glasses, and we do use large amounts for entertaining, but we marched our happy *sses to Costco and bought one of their awesome value packs! For $20!!!
  • I flame whatever I've caught, and the unavailability of subs.  At least I anticipated being really tired and just planned a video for today.

On a positive note, Hunger Games was really good, except my friend and I ended up sitting in the VERYFRONT, and the view was not great with the camera work.  I wasn't sure if my headache was from the movie or feeling sick anyway.  H and I will be in Waco this weekend, so we're going to see it Sunday, hopefully from much better seats.  =)

  • Also, Amy, I know you can do it, and you'll come out stronger on the other end.

And Carrie, that is ridiculous.  We registered for 6 each of the crystal we liked, but that's because the boutique we were at just said, "Oh, you need a set.  Here you go!"  It's still in boxes because I don't want to have to re-pack it when we move to Pampa.  Also, we got so many wine glasses on our honeymoon that I've told FI we don't have to worry about buying gifts for anyone for a while, we're just going to give them some of these glasses.

At least by then the theatre probably won't be full of fangirls.

Best two moments of the night:

    1) New Moon or whatever Twilight movie is coming out previewed, all the fangirls booed.
    2) During Peeta's interview before the games, we could hear everyone sucking in their breath waiting for that moment when he reveals his big secret (trying not to spoil for anyone who hasn't read), and then there was the collective, "EEEEEEEEEEEE!"

This happened when I went to see the midnight showing of the final HP movie in Hollywood. I was so proud I almost cried (I mean I totally cried through almost the entire movie but that's a topic for another day).
And then to boot, Abandon (movie with Taylor Lautner) was the next trailer and the booing continued. So proud of my peeps.

  • ktwed- My sister (MOH) and his younger sister are both fine with whatever I want. It's the 2 older BMs (2 of his 1st cousins) who are causing problems. I feel terrible for my sister because she's trying to be responsible MOH and handle things diplomatically, but I'm about to step in because they are being total jerks to her.

Carrie- This is my thought exactly! These are my wedding pictures, by Christmas they won't even care what they were wearing!

Kristan, I gave my girls three choices and they all ended up picking the same one.  Are you hoping they'll be sort of mismatched?  I would almost think narrowing it down a little and saying, "Okay, go try on option 2, 3, and 5 and get the one you like best," would help.  Or just pick for them.  =)

Kristan, what colors are you using?  Could they possibly just go get a dress of their choosing in that color?

I just had to have floor length champagne dresses.  HAD TO.  Both my sister and daughter were totally gracious and wore them happily.  Now I regret it--my first choice was black and I wish to this day I had just had them go pick out whatever black dress they wanted and could keep and wear again instead of ending up with poor quality satin champagne dresses hanging in their closet.  Plus when I see weddings where this is done, I think it looks very chic.

    Just my $.02.

Oh and I finished half of the The Hunger Games last night and am still waiting to be amazed.
  • ktwed- My girls are 20-27.
  • Kristan~ I'm sorry to hear all this because you are being very flexible which is more than most brides would be. Hopefully they come the their sences but it sounds like you might have to step in just to give your MOH some relief in the situation. It's too bad really because all the weddings I was in I wore what the bride told me to and I didn't complain because after it all it's the brides day and I was happy to be asked to a part of it.

Oh, me too. TBH, the first book is the best of the 3. They're all good, though. If you don't like the first, I definitely wouldn't dive into the next one with hopes of it getting better. If you're not hooked by one, you're just not going to be.

  • Amanda- I'm about to that point!

ktwed- The girls causing issues are 22 and 29, the other 2 are 18 and 20.

Stephie- My colors are turquoise and chartreuse. The dresses I've picked out are Pantone Turquoise. I would love to give them a fabric swatch and say "Go match this and get whatever dress you want" but I worry that 1) They will wait too long to shop and won't be able to find anything, 2) The dresses won't be appropriate (too short, too much cleavage, etc), and 3) They'll say "Well it's CLOSE to the color you gave me"

Hope you start liking the book better! :)

Would the professor just refuse to answer your questions or what? I know that professors can get in trouble for advising a student to drop so maybe he was worried if he said your grade wasn't recoverable it would be like telling you to drop or if he told you it was recoverable and it ended up not being then he would feel like he gave you bad advice? I'm not saying I doubt he was an ass about it, he probably was, but can you look at your syllabus and figure out your average on your own, or is there other information you need from him?

also, stephie, your wedding pictures were gorgeous, so don't have too many regrets about your bridesmaid dresses. i don't think most people expect to be able to wear their dresses again, and they can always buy another LBD anytime.
