Wedding at the Lofty Space?

So, I have been snooping this board way before I was engaged. NOw that I am I feel like I can trust you knotties. :) So, we are looking to book with the Lofty spaces for our wedding. I have been reading reviews that were negative. One negative review tends to over ride some of the postive one for me. I have been emailing Bruce back and forth and every time I suggest to talk to him or meet up with him for questions, he just seems to ignore it. We are scared to book with them since it doesn't seem they have great customer service or even answering all my quetions. So I'm coming to you ladies for help!

Were they easy to work with?
Were there any hidden charges?
Was there enough food if you did buffet and passed Hor dovrs?
How was the communication when it came close to your wedding?
Any information I should know/be warned about?

So those of you who did have your wedding there, please tell me how it went I would love to hear and it would help us out A LOT.!

Thanks!

  • I don't know much about this venue or remember hearing anything, but I will advise you to go with your gut.  The guy might change his attentiveness once he has your deposit, but if something makes you uncomfortable, it might be time to walk.

Hopefully someone who knows about this place will chime in.

  • I don't plan on having my wedding there or know too much about it. For me the red flag would be his lack of interest in answering your questions. If he's not helping you now I doubt he will help you after you book with them. For me that's a deal breaker. If you are that nervous to book with them I say don't do it.

  • Ditto, PPs.  Trust your gut.
  • Knotte Mseale had her wedding there.  She gave it a B and said Bruce was "flighty."  She ONLY dealt with him on the space, she brought in everything else using different vendors.  She suggested in her review that you get everything in writing as there were some "misunderstandings."  She also said: "If I was renting anything from him, or using his caterer, I would be concerned."

So do with this information what you will.

I worked with bruce a lot as that was the space I thought I had chosen, but at the last second I changed my mind. Bruce is great, but his e-mailing is always lagging. Best way of contacting him is to e-mail him directly. He has another guy he works with (can't remember his name as of yet) that handles the day to day operations as Bruce does a lot of the catering and practical side.
Were they easy to work with? When I was working with them at first I like you was frustrated at lack of quick e-mails and realized calling was the best thing. He's just not pro-active about everything.
Were there any hidden charges? If you look at his budgeting list he has everything anything could possibly cost down to a T. I really liked that.
Was there enough food if you did buffet and passed Hor dovrs? Not sure about this one.
How was the communication when it came close to your wedding? I talked to a bride who had worked with him and the communication close to the wedding wasn't an issue at all. Especially the multiple times she wanted to come in with her family to figure out what they wanted to do with the space.
Any information I should know/be warned about? I think the venue is gorgeous and would have gone with it except I got a hookup at the venue of my dreams and woudln't have to DIY at all. Just didn't think I'd have time for all of that. OH another thing. You can get in the space as early as you want. I was going to come in at 8am for my 6pm wedding to get things started to set up and get myself and my girls ready and it was no problem for them.

Hope that was helpful. I loved LS (Fi loved it more than I did)

  • Thanks ladies! We are hoping to make a decision soon. I'm just so nervous, but it offers a lot more than any other places. I just don't want to get in the hole and have it not be a success.
