engaged encounter ft. worth

Has anybody been to the engaged encounter with the Ft. Worth Diocese? (DFWIndian-which one did you go to?) Mine is planned for this weekend but I broke my wrist and might reschedule. I heard there is a lot of writing and I can't write really....I'm just wondering how the weekend goes to see if I would benefit more from going when my wrist is healed and I can write down my thoughts. TIA

The FW diocese sent us to a retreat center in Dallas. There was writing, but nothing in which you turn in. They tell you to write it down then go over it with your FI. As long as  you just talk to him about your answers and you don't change it to fit what he says it shouldn't matter at all!! I know there is a $35 rescheduling fee and I wouldn't want to pay that. It's all discussion. Have fun! I really enjoyed it.

haha. I wasn't worried about that! Thanks girls-sounds like it's not too dependent on writing-just as long as we talk about it. The lady I spoke with tho made it seem like a big deal. She said we write a letter to fiance. But based on what yall said, I could just write words to remind me what I was thinking.  I didn't know about the rescheduling fee so that helps with the decision too!

You do write a letter but it doesn't have to be ten pages or anything.  Plus no one sees it other than your FI if you want to show it to him.

Since they usually separate the men and women when you do your writing, maybe you can speak it into you Iphone or something?

You do write in a journal to your FI and then he reads it later.  I think it helps to write it down because then you can't forget anything and you say what you truly mean.  I'm not saying that any of us hide things... but it's an intense experience.  I wouldn't reschedule, but if they give you any problems, maybe you could just record what you were going to say and find a private area where no one can hear you.

Thanks y'all. I'm going to keep the date but keep a recorder or phone with me. What does everybody mean by an 'intense' weekend? I guess I have to see for myself.

I didn't think it was intense.  I thought that a lot of things they went through were common sense kind of things.  When they started talking about intercourse, it got a little oogy in there.  Mainly because they turned down the lights and lit candles.  I could barely take it.  It's more like a seminar really.  You're there for some information. You might talk to a few people.

We were warned that some couples don't make it through the weekend.  I was very worried what they meant by that.  I was very nervous leading up to our weekend.  However, it was nothing to worry about.  Did you "score" well on your Focus test?

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: engaged encounter ft. worth : hahahahahaha. Last night the topic of my RCIA class was marriage and holy orders, and during the marriage discussion the deacon proudly announced that he had managed to dissuade a couple from getting married (in his words, he'd "run them off").  I sort of appreciate how much work goes into a Catholic wedding -- by the time you're done, you are damn certain you're ready to marry this person.

You do jump through some extra hoops and, while it's not fool proof, I'd like to think that I see a lot of stronger marriages because of it.

We never talked about that.  I went to the one Houston.  Maybe it's different in the DFW area.

Haha! Okay I feel much better about this weekend! I am on the way now! I'm not really nervous I'm just ready to see what it's all about! We 'scored' high on most of the categories. Our lowest one was religion bc we had been away from the church but if we took it now our score would be a little higher. how did y'all do? We made a 97% in the compatibility category tho :)
