FFF

I have a love/hate relationship with Fridays.  On the one hand, it's almost the weekend (yes!) but on the other hand, it's our busiest day at the office.  And today we have a VIP patient.  I immensely dislike that people are treated differently because of their money, so this should go well.

I feel like I am so behind on wedding stuff.  I'm not even really sure what I'm suppsed to be doing right now.

• I flame that I didn't get any sleep last night and feel like crap today. This is going to a very non productive day and i have alot to do since I have to work all weekend. That's my other flame working all weekend because my ASM feels the need to request all these days off. Well she will be working alot of weekends this summer.
Amy- I hate that VIP treatment as well. I have real issues with people who feel they are entitled to certain things in life.

I was just talking to a friend yesterday about how bad this is getting in education.  Not just at the secondary level (although I haven't really had problems this year with parents trying to intimidate or steamroll me, knock on wood!), but at the collegiate level.  His parents are both college professors and get SO MANY emails from parents now!  It's like, when will you cut the cord?

I don't have any flames, unless my coworker didn't pick up any q-tips last night, thus preventing me from collecting any fruit fly data.  But really, I won't be upset if I don't have anything to do today.  Most of my kids are taking an AP test and I feel like they are just DONE by this point.  Oh, aaaaaand I got my 17-year-old freshman removed from my class from now until the end of the year, so things are good for me so far.  =)  The kids even said they felt like the STAAR was hard, but not as hard as they'd expected it to be.  Terror being replaced by cautious optimism.

• 17 year old freshman!? Holy cow!
My daughter had her AP test I think it was last week. She's pretty happy that is over.
I don't understand parents who think that their kids can do no wrong and why parents feel the need to stick their nose in when it's obvious the kid is the one with the problem. I told my kids once they pretty much hit middle school it was time to start being responsible and I would not be bailing them out for not turning in assignments or whatever else they did that was not a good decision. My daughter was in the habit of forgetting her homework and when I told her no I would not bring it to school she learned pretty quickly to be more responsible.

I have a consult this morning with a florist, so that is good at least for today.

Yeaaaaa. Hopefully my mom can get something worked out, she's good at this stuff lol

Ktwed - i hope your consult goes well! That is one thing I'm def struggle with in planning
• KT, I had huge problems with that last year, but not so much this year.  Mostly what I get this year is parents whose kids suddenly aren't perfect and the parents don't know what to do.  Most of my kids who are not holding up their end, the parents are really supportive and try their best.  Other parents seem a little overwhelmed.  I've only had one parent this year basically accuse me of not teaching well, and she got her kid's schedule changed.  Whatever makes her happy.

There are 12 students (out of 28) in my first period.  We are not doing anything.  Most of my kids are gathered around an iPad watching an anime.  =)

• The roommate from Hades is still not gone. She was supposed to be out Wednesday, and then it changed to last night, and I get up this morning to her doing laundry. GTFO! I want my life back.
On the plus side, we are going to the Dave Matthews concert tomorrow night so all my cares will melt away. They will surely be the happiest 3 hours of my year :) Our first real 'date' was to DMB in '08, so it is a fun anniversary-ish thing that we love doing even though it is never on the same day; it is more the event than anything.
• Oh, that blows Courtney.

I just got an email from apparently the elementary beginning teacher of the year (I know this because she mentioned it in her email) asking for help voting for her class to get some new technology.  It was the most annoying email I've ever read.  She used at least four different font colors and her font size increased as the email went on.  It was insanely annoying.

professor - you don't love e-mails like that? i mean how are you supposed to know how serious something is if the colors and sizes are all the same lol

I get off work in 4 hours!! That is defintely no flame
• Oh dang!  TN and TB recently switched over to the format TK was using, and it caused HUGE problems (like, a bunch of people got banned apparently).  I guess they felt enough pressure because THIS showed up on the DFW Nest board.  I think all those girls jumped ship, already, though.

I wish they'd revert to whatever the old format was on TK.  =(
court - Is anything signed saying when she has to be out? Posted by AshJohnson30
No, since this was a temporary situation in the first place we didn't do a contract or anything. She was a good friend of J's before all of this, and we have really been accomodating but I just feel like she is taking advantage of him which really ticks me off. She knew she would need to be out before our lease was up (which is May 31) and the date she would go was always May 15 so that we could start getting our things packed for our own move. I had no idea how disrespectful she was until about 3 months ago, so now any little thing she does sends me into a rage. I am praying that today is the end of it.
• Oh man Court that stinks in every which way. I think as impatient as I am I would toss her crap outside and change the locks. But at this point there is only a couple weeks left until you move. I would do everything possible to annoy the crap out of her.
Florist consult went well. I really like her ideas and her quote is pretty much with in my budget. I have two more to go before I make my desiion. I met with Cindy Davis. I'm in the process of setting a time wih Rainflorist in McKinney and in a couple weeks I have a consult with Lou at In Bloom Florist.

• Court - Yea that stinks so much. Hopefully when you get home she's gone! Or at least packed to leave.

My friend just told me her puppy went from slightly blind to completely blind. I feel so sad for the little guy :-(
• Amanda- Good to hear more of the parents are being more supportive and proactive in their children's education rather than blaming the teacher. My oldest daughter used to use the excuse the teacher hates me. Well she was a handful and talked too much and got a little mouthy. I always told her if she would be quiet and listen for a change she might actually learn something.

I don't see what you're talking about.  It just takes me to the sort of table of contents for the whole Nest.  I did see that it's gone back nearly three months in the timeline.

ProBoards is so much faster--this is like the Ice Age!  We are having a good time that's for sure and the number of posts has about doubled if not tripled.

I don't think anyone will notice.  You might talk to your DJ though in case someone goes, "HEY NO ONE GAVE A SPEECH I LOVE Y'ALL."  I wouldn't want just randos coming up to the mic.

I say, the less formal-wedding-y stuff you do (receiving line, seated dinner courses, formal dances, toasts/speeches) the better for the guests!

That said, my MOH and my dad gave short speeches at our wedding ... only because they both told me the day before that they'd prepared a speech. I gave my DJ a heads-up when the reception was starting so he could work that into the schedule. I hadn't made any time for toasts because I just assumed nobody would give any.
