Worth It

Happy Friday Ladies,

I'd love to get y'alls opinions on my menus.  I wanted to do menu cards and place at each seat even though we're having buffet style since the plates and silverware will be placed in the food line.  I like the idea of something at each seat.  I fell in love with the menu cards (pic below) and was thinking of doing mine similar using the crystals.

I already bedazzled out our cake topper so these would coordinate.  I'd have to do about 110-120 of them.  I think they'd look super nice but it would take some time to make.

My question - is it worth it?

I voted no, but let me explain.  :)

I looooove the look of the Menu cards!  I caution you though, I just tied ribbon on 100 programs and it took me & FI 3 evenings to assemble and tie them all, I can only imagine how much time this would take!

What if you do this design, but only put a few embellishments on each?  It would cut down your time dramatically and give you a similar effect.

My suggestion is to do one or two per table.  I know you like the idea of a menu at each setting, but it's not worth it.  Doing one per table saves both time and money.

I think the menu cards in general might not be necessary since it is a buffet.  Could you do some signs or something at the actual buffet, like next to the different food items?  Then you could make those as fancy as you want, since there won't be as many.

I get what you mean about wanting something at each place seat, but that sounds like a lot of work for something people probably aren't going to read and will be thrown away.

Are you doing favors?  We placed our favors on the tables at each seat.

Reg. having menu cards with a buffet....

I am having a buffet and doing menu cards...I had them printed through Vista Print and they turned out very nicely (and very inexpensively!)

Tthey have our monogram on one side and the menu on the other.   They will be wrapped decoratively in our napkins at each place setting with the monogram side up.   It's just for looks and it was a nice touch that I didn't have to spend any time and very little money on.

We're doing menu cards because we have 3 "themed" food stations.  So I wanted to clarify what each station is and to make sure the guests don't miss out.

Also I think it's nice to have something at each setting since we're not doing chargers.

I think the crystals look fabulous, but it does look like a lot of work.  I say print the menu cards without them, and if you have time to add the bling, do it.  If you run out of time, you'll still have menu cards!  Give yourself some options, I know I ended up skipping some DIY projects at the end (or reassigning them to vendors).

    Thanks Ladies.

You guys are completely right.  It would be way harder than my cake topper since I could just drop glue and it would hold.  Here I'd have to place each one.  I'm pretty patient but that's too much.  And even with getting the crystals on sale it'd be over $50 just for the crystals at least.

I'm bored at work so I just did a few mock-ups using 1 crystal.  I think this still is pretty and putting one at each spot won't be overkill.

I like your second mock up with the one crystal!  I think that will look great, and cut down on the work hours.

We're doing menus at each seat for a buffet dinner (I really liked the look of it on the tables), but I'm making them as easy as possible.  It's pretty much, print, glue to cardstock and go.

I must say I really love your menu! The chicken and waffles is so cool.

Thanks btweety.  We knew we didn't want the traditional chicken or beef.  We're both such foodies and love love love gourmet comfort food. We had our menu before we had a venue or date!!  So sad.

If you have the time, patience and resources to do the Menu Card with the crystals, I say "Go for it."   The beauty of every fabulous wedding is in the details.    That bedazzled menu card is so eye-catching and unique, you are sure to get alot of compliments and buzz about them at your wedding.

I love them, they are so cute. It does look like a lot of them though and since you are having a buffett, I'm not sure I would do menu cards but then again it would add elegance to the tables. If you have the time I say go for it.
