Program Help - Church Wedding

Our Reverend is being SUPER laid back about our wedding... which is nice but also stressful b/c he's putting all of the planning on me and not really giving me a lot of guidance on things.

We decided we are doing communion at the ceremony and picked out our three readings (from the Old Test., New Test., and Gospel). We will do one of them in Spanish and English.

I am a little lost on the programs, though. Should I write out the text of the readings, or just put the name of it? I asked the Reverend if he could share any example wedding programs but he was wishy washy about it so I'm not counting on seeing anything from him.

Does anyone have their program text done that they could share with me?  I just want to see some examples of the ordering for everything and how much detail to include. I have taken a stab at ours, but I think seeing how some of you ladies are doing yours would help, too.

FWIW, we are having an Episcopal wedding service. We are having two Reverends involved (one from the church we will be married in but who we don't really know and one that we actually have a relationship with and is flying in to participate), which is another headache to figure out how to explain that in the program.

  • I think I am just going to write the citation that they can find it in the bible.  So like Genesis 1:1-3a, for example, clearly not one of our readings.  I think I'm going to write out the order of everything so non-Catholics know what is going on.  I am using this website as a guide of what order stuff is in and what to include.

  • I just put the names of the reading in the program. One of ours is a biblical reading and one is a secular reading. I think it's pretty common to just put the name. If you are having it in another language and there will be people who will not understand it, that might be nice to have a translation. Here is a picture of the ceremony portion of our program:

  • We're just putting the names of the readings as well so that everyone can follow along. I've never seen it done where the entire text is written out.
"Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are."
  • I am also just putting the name of the reading just as michelle11988 wrote.  I am just about finished my program but it is on my work computer if you PM your email address I can send you a copy tonight.
  • Colleen - thank you so much! I am sending you a PM now!

  • Not a problem!  I will send you an email tonight with my program sample
  • I put the names (pretty similar to ramisenh).

Actually for our 2 readers- we have no idea what they're planning on saying (a surprise) so under "reading" there are their names.

  • Hi lady! This is something that I MAY be able to help you with for once!

We are NOT writing out the entire reading info. I've seen it done both ways and I think it's cleaner without all of the wording. I am going to put in all of the "Responses" though ("Thanks be to God" etc.). I'm not quite finished with the Program, but I can send you my template if you'd like to see it. Let me know and I will send via email (I still have yours!).
