How did you decide where to go...

For your honeymoon??
I looked and I couldn't find anyone who asked this. Either way how did you decide? We went to a Sandals presentation yesterday and I think I like the St. Lucia resorts they had, but I wanted to know what all the other options where. How did you pick what you wanted? How do you even know what you want as far as it's concerned?
There are so many options... Beaches, Europe, China... I know you guys can't tell me what I LIKE or WANT, but how did you decide on it. Our budget is up in the air so any suggestions would be great!

We knew that we wanted to do something tropical, so we were at least able to narrow it down to there.  We thought about Europe, but I didn't really want to go in April since it would be a little chilly there.  Then we talked to a TA and she showed us different resorts in the carribean areas and we finally narrowed it down to st lucia and then picked the resort we liked best there that was still in our price range.

We went to NYC for eight days and had a wonderful time!  We saw shows (five of them), ate at awesome restaurants, saw the Statue of Liberty, went shopping (Hello, Canal Street and Tiffany's!).

I can also say that Disney World would be a lot of fun.  They pull out all the stops for anniversary and just marrieds.  We got a free champagne toast at one restaurant.  Another restaurant gave us a card signed by the characters.  We even got a card in our hotel room from Mickey and Minnie.

We talked about doing Rome and Tahiti as well.

You should think about the time of year that you are going.  What is the weather like in A, B, C during x month.  That will help narrow it down.  We were on a small budget and I don't like to fly - that's why we went to NOLA.

Narrow it down to a few places based on weather (hurricane season, etc.) and then do some research on those places.  It was hard for us to decide, too.

If you want help doing research, let me know.  I really like planning vacations (and doing the research).  Nerdy, I know.  :)

I had always wanted to go to Cabo, but our decision was ultimately based on what the weather would be like because it was hurricane season.  Once we found out that weather was going to be great we just had to find something that wasn't too expensive.

It was always my dream to go to Hawaii so when Ben proposed he told me he had a Hawaiian honeymoon planned and I was thrilled!

We're going to Napa/San Francisco.  I googled "cheapest cities to travel to in January" & it was one of the areas that popped up.  We narrowed it down by interests & we both wanted to go to a place that neither of us had already been to.

We threw a dart at the map of the US.  Then I could not get enough time to take off to do what we wanted with our destination and just chose NYC, which is where we both wanted to go to from the beginning.

We knew we wanted to go to a beach and not Mexico bc we've both been before.  We also wanted to try something different not the typical honeymoon hot spots/hotels (nothing wrong with that though).  So we considered the Caribbean and/or Tahiti.  Quickly realized Tahiti was out bc flights are so expensive.  The we just started going through all the islands and narrowed it down to our top favorites.  I am on TripAdvisor ALLLLLL the time so that helped a bunch too with narrowing it down.  If you decide to look at TripAdvisor, make sure you take it with a grain of salt.  :~)

Good luck, it's so much fun planning your honeymoon!!

Thanks.. I'll start looking for places in with good weather in June. I love to fly.. Both of us do. I guess I wouldn't get to India if I didn't fly. I think after this I do want to leave the states, but beaches sound less appealing..

Thanks Ladies.. Keep it coming this is really helping.

I travel a lot for work and have a bunch of airline miles. We looked at the award tickets and decided that of the places we would like to visit, Hawaii was the best value for the miles. We weren't looking forward to the added expense of the honeymoon so quickly after the wedding, so really the miles sold us.

We knew we wanted to go on a cruise immediately....they are sooo affordable and you get to visit multiple places instead of just one. Plus (besides alcohol) they are all inclusive and food can get expensive when your having to eat out breakfast lunch and dinner on a week honeymoon :)

You wouldn't believe what we spent on food.  We were prepared but still.  Eating out is part of the fun for Ben on vacation because he doesn't have to worry about his weight.  By Day 9 I was so tired of it.

I really really wanted to go to Europe, but Courts said he wanted to be in Hawaii without having to worry about his dad being in the hospital (he passed away while we were in Hawaii last year), and I couldn't really argue with that. Plus, we got engaged in Hawaii.

I wasn't on a cruise but I gained 3 lbs.  In NINE DAYS.  I think it was all those Lava Flows.  They were worth it though, mmmmmmm.

All of our accomodations for the HM are through vrbo.com, so we have a kitchen available to us if we want to cook. I really love to cook, so we'll probably do that at least sometimes. And we'll probably do cereal or toast for breakfasts to save money and calories :)

<div>I went on a cruise this summer and have never seen that much food in one place in all my life! There are so many buffets, cafeterias, restaurants, etc. that it becomes overwhelming! I didn't eat entirely too much but I am also super picky and didn't like a lot of what was offered. </div><div>
</div><div>We are going on a cruise for our honeymoon, also. And not only do you get to go to different destinations and save on food, but you also save on entertainment. There are different shows/acts every night, casinos, music, game shows; there is always something to do! </div>

ours was a last minute thing. we originally planned to just stay at the belmont for a long weekend, due to money. but we stumbled onto a GREAT deal for a trip to san francisco that was less than the weekend at the belmont. we'd been there before and have friends there, so we knew we'd have fun.
