Videographer?

We definitely did not plan on getting a videographer - so of course we did not budget for one at all. And now after planning so many details, I have started thinking about how much would love to be able to see the full ceremony (which I wont see otherwise, theres no window from my brides room!). I know we might not watch it all the time, but pulling it out on our anniversaries or for sentimental girl moments when I want to hear our vows again would be really nice. I've had the hardest time trying to pick a photographer, because I am so nervous someone will miss moments that I want captured and there is no way to go back and do the wedding over. I am running into the same nerves with trying to book a videographer on such a tight budget as well - does anyone have recommendations of people they used? I really only need to capture the ceremony, and ours should only last 30-45 minutes. Please help!! (if it helps our wedding is in McKinney, TX)

Re: Videographer?

  • I didn't have video but like you I considered it at the last minute.  This guy was really willing to work with me (but again, I didn't use him).

FWIW, and I'm in the minority, but not having video is my one regret.  Like you said, I may not watch my ceremony hundreds of times, but knowing I can never see it again even once is painful.
  • I didn't initially budget for video either, but I am so glad we hired one. Jason with Wylie is reasonably priced, and super cool http://wylievideo.com/

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

J Christopher Films.  His prices have gone up, but he is SO worth it and still SO much more affordable than other videographers.  He's done lots of weddings on this site.

PS: I watch my wedding highlight video ALL the time.  We did spend the extra for the harddrive with the full eight hours of coverage, and I still haven't taken it out of the package (in my defense I am moving).  I am friends with Jeff and Amanda on FB and every time they post someone else's video, I have to scroll down and watch mine.

  • I recommend Media Blends.  That's who we'll be using.

Agreed. <div>I didn't even budget for one, but he was really reasonable...I only officially booked him a week before my wedding.</div>

  • I didn't budget in for videographer and I have changed my mind we are going to get one. I have 13 months to go so luckily plenty of time to save.

  • Ditto to what everyone else said!  We decided this wasn't for us, and then, closer to the wedding, I started to regret having not budgeted for it.  Then, about a month before, and as part of my wedding gift, my H found our videographer, Jonathon Link Studios, and it ended up being one of the best things we spent money on.

Like ProfessorScience, i watch our highlight video ALL the time, 7 months later.

  • Add me to the list of people who didn't budget but found a way!!!
I am using J Christopher as well.
  • I am noticing many videographers cost over $1000, is there any way to keep it around $500? I really only am wanting the ceremony and perhaps first dance (at the very beginning of our rehearsal) - so at most I would need them for 2 hours.

  • I have decided to go with JChristopher, for 2 hours its only $500. Thanks everyone for your help!!
