Wedding Cakes

I have already looked at the list of vendors, but need specifics! looking for a cake for under $3/slice. Wedding is next month! :) TIA!

Re: Wedding Cakes

  • I had a pretty inexpensively cake and mine was still $3.25 a slice, and I think even The Cake Guys are above $3.00. Maybe one of the other ladies has a better suggestion...good luck...
  • How much is Tabatha Ballard?

  • I think that Tabitha Ballard was $2/slice in 2009... I'm not sure if the prices went up or not

I used a culinary student for my wedding cake and was pleased. She charges based on the number of tiers. I think I paid around $350 for a cake for 150 people for a 4 tier...check out her website!

If I'm remembering correctly, she was $2.75-3.50/slice when we met with her about a year ago depending on how fancypants you wanted to get with your cakes.

  • Tabitha Ballard is $2/slice for buttercream and $3 per slice for fondant when I emailed her a couple months ago.
  • I think Panini was more than $3 when I checked with them. I used Ruth Robbins and loved her cake, but she was 3.50 a slice.

You might be able to talk somebody into doing it for $3 if you just have a simple buttercream with no design on it and a simple filling, then your florist or you could add flowers to it.

Also, check local bakeries. Maybe AJs, I've had their birthday cakes which are delicious, but have never had a fancy cake from them. http://www.ajbakery.info/?pid=4
  • I ended up going with the lady at my venue, but I had called Central Market... $3.25-$4.25 per slice ($1.99 for cupcakes, if you'd consider that route) plus $45 delivery fee. Mabye check into some other larger grocery store chains?

  • Awesome thanks! I called the one Nancy suggested, emailed Tabitha and also got a rec from the guy that did my cake(he isnt doing them anymore)! Thanks girls!
  • Have you tried Artsy Cakes in Fort Worth?
  • Texas Star Bakery in Hurst makes great cakes and they are VERY affordable. They have done two of my friends weddings and I'm using them next month!
  • I just found a great cake lady and she fits my budget! Her cake genuinely tasted the best out of the ones I tried and she's only charging $300 to do a Wedding cake, Groom's cake, and the cute lil tux strawberries for 75 people....
