Invitation questions

Okay, apparently my whole invitation thinking has been off. So I wanted to get some other opinions. 

How early did you send out your invites in relation to the wedding and RSVP dates? 

Did the invites for your showers go out before or after the invites for the wedding?

My wedding was October 15 and invites were dropped on August 18. RSVP date was September 23. My one and only shower was August 27 and invites for that were sent by the hostess on July 28, so they were sent prior to wedding invites.

We sent ours out three months before our wedding and had an RSVP date of about three weeks before.  We were getting married on Mother's Day weekend and had most of our families coming in from out of town so we were trying to get everyone to get their plans made.  Plus, we got engaged about six months before our wedding so STDs seemed a little pointless. 

The invites went out before the shower invitations.

How early did you send out your invites in relation to the wedding and RSVP dates? We sent out the invitations the first weekend in September (8 weeks before wedding) with an RSVP date of 10/17 (3 weeks before the wedding).  We sent ours out a little early since we had a lot of OOT.  Plus, honestly, I was ready to be done with them.

Did the invites for your showers go out before or after the invites for the wedding? My shower was in September so shower invitations went out first.

We sent ours three months early, and shower invites went out a little bit after wedding invitations.

Thanks. 

My step mom was telling me today that my shower invites are supposed to go before the wedding invites and then that my RSVP date was too far. It's set for March 24th and invites probably won't make it to the mail until Monday.

thanks for asking this question.  i was also a little concerned about shower invites going out before the wedding invites.  right now it looks like our wedding invites are going to go out about a week after the shower invites.
