Too much to ask?

Is it too much to ask for DJ's to put their rates on their websites???  I have looked at about seven of them so far and not one has any kind of rate, package or any pricing at all.  I just want to see what the ballpark is on pricing.  I have a quote from one guy, but have no idea if it is good or not (even though he says it is excellent!)

Grrrrrr.............

Thanks for letting me vent! :)

I feel the same way about a lot of places. They want you to call them so they can blah, blah, blah! I am much more likely to book or call someone when their prices are listed!

I know they are trying to sell me something, but I'm really not interested in the full blown sales pitch till I determine if you are even in my price range!  I am pretty tolerant of the sales pitch, but FI is not so much!  LOL  He knows it is all part of it, but doesn't care for all the fluff.

I have put "prefer to email" as my phone number on all of the contact forms I have filled out.  That way, I can weed them out before my cell phone blows up with tons of sales calls.

And, I'm with you, I'm much more likely to even contact you if I have an idea of how much you are!

Uggh that goes for most vendors. It is so annoying that I have to practically write you a biography just to see how much you cost. Then I get your calls for the next several months....grrr.

Do my trick and only put your email address.  Then, you control when you deal with them! :)

I felt the same way with a lot of vendors.  I'm still searching for cakes and noticed several that said *since each cake is unique......they will all be different prices* I got lucky on my DJ since I won 1/2 off their service for going to the Ft Worth Bridal show. They asked me how many people I was thinking about and they said ok well you'll probablly need this package and gave me the price. After that, they were telling me about other stuff. Videography I noticed isn't bad cus a lot of people have prices listed-whoohooo!

DJs run the gamut from a few hundred to many thousand.  Once you email them, most will give you a quote before meeting with them.  I talked to one that wouldn't, so I simply refused to meet with him.

You might want to check out Figment Productions--Knottie Wagner used them and mentioned in her review how great they were for such a low price.

As everyone knows, I absolutely loved my DJ (Glenn Roush)  but he was $1500 last year--don't k now if you want to go that high or not.  Also Melodies and Memories are very popular with brides here--I think they are around the $700-$800 range.

I have requests out to both Glenn & M&M.  Wow, $1500...  That is a lot.  What all did he provide for that?  I'll check into Figment too.

For $1500 you get unlimited time (most charge by the hour or have 4 or 6 hour packages, etc.).  I think he got there at 5 and left after midnight.  He also provided microphones for our ceremony officiants.  But he did not provide lighting for this rate--if we wanted lighting it was extra, thus making it out of our budget.  Lighting is expensive but many DJs do provide it for a fee.  We just liked Glenn so much after meeting him that we decided to go with him and we weren't disappointed.

Our DJ (who we loved as well) was $1,500 too. You can certainly get cheaper DJs, but those are the "talkative ones" or the "cheesy ones" from those we interviewed. We used stephen with www.stephenjamesweddings.com and couldn't be happier. If you contact him, tell him Jenn sent you...

    I hate that!
I don't want to waste their time or mine if they aren't in my price range.

Recently I toured a venue before my scheduled time (like an hour before the meeting) another person gave me a tour. I didn't get any financial information about it and I emailed to get it. This lady wouldn't give me the info, she stated she wanted to meet in person because it was just too much to discuss in an email. I thought whatever, fine, we can meet again. Then about 3 hours before our meeting she e-mailed me and asked me all the questions I had asked her. She wanted to be better prepared for our meeting. That was the whole reason for my first e-mail. I wasn't asking for a proposal. I wanted a ball park figure and she couldn't give it to me in an e-mail. I sent her an email back canceling the meeting. She sent one back giving me all the information.

    I mean seriously!

I know EXACTLY what you mean!
