I was just wondering what the average price for a photographer in this area (DFW) was?  Looking at having engagement and wedding day pics... I have one that I really want to use but I want to get some different prices before I say yes.

It reall will very from photographer to photographer. I think mine starts at $1750 now for wedding coverage plus e-pics or bridals

The great photographers start from about 2k-5K. From my research 2photographers for 8 hours runs about 3K-4K. I truly believe you get what you pay for with photography and it's the area to splurg

I've seen pricing anywhere from $800 to $5K, it just boils down to what kinds of extras you want. I would venture to say that the average around this board is about $2K, which wouldn't include albums or prints. Meet with a few and see a few of the weddings they've done from start to finish, determine what style you like best all while keeping in mind a budget starting point. My photog was $1700 which included an engagement session and full wedding day coverage. Bridal session, extra photog and albums were available at a la carte pricing.

Between $2000-$2500 is a good starting point for a session and about 6 hours of coverage with 1-2 photographers.

I absolutely loved my photographer and though she wasn't as expensive as others, I still felt the quality was just as good! She started at $900.

I think my photographer came out to just under $3000.  As others have said, it's important to pay attention to what you get with a photography package.  Some photographers include engagement and wedding photos.  Some include a high-quality photo album.  Some photographers will charge $2000 and you only get wedding day coverage.

Mine was $700 including bridal and wedding. No prints.

Mine was $1,250 and included engagement pictures, full day wedding coverage with two photographers, and a CD of all images in high-resolution. No prints or album. But, I negotiated getting the CD instead of an album.

This. I am paying $1500 for engagements, bridals, two photographers and full day wedding coverage with all pictures on a flash drive. I will print myself but I prefer it that way. Make sure you understand what all you receive in the package.

We also have a more in-depth website with vendor info, but I don't know if it's linked in that thread.

The vendors listed on the site are the ones that knotties used during the time the vendor site was made.

I used a lady who works at our administration building.  She now starts around $1000, but she told me recently that she is willing to talk to any bride to see if she can work within their parameters.

PS:  Not every photography vendor will be there because only a handful of DFW girls actually use this website.  It's a fairly comprehensive list for the girls who have come here.

Well, see, we had a crazy girl here who did some crazy stuff and we had to take down the original vendor site and it takes a while to compile all that information.  If you have someone you specifically want to know about, ask.  If there's a Knottie who you would like to know about their photographer, ask them.

Ok thanks. I don't know any backstory on the vendor site. I was told to go check it, I did, and noticed several girls vendors weren't listed so I just mentioned that. That's all.

It is updated with who had what based on what info was provided in a thread not too long ago. That part is at least done. You should be able to CTRL F to find a specific user name (since it is a long list).

My package was around $5,000 and I used Jenny Martell. Here's what we got: -2 wedding day Photographers for 7 hours -engagement and bridal session -high quality flush mount album -2 parents albums -DVD of digital negatives on all sessions and wedding coverage -prints Her packages started at $2,800 but we added quite a bit. And her quality, fantastic! That said, if you do the right research, you can definetely find fantastic quality for cheaper, but we were willing to splurge here!
