Anti-White!

We finally booked our caterer today after bajillions of calls, tastings and e-mails and we settled on Black Eyed Pea. I am very excited and it seems like you get a lot of bang for your buck from there. Anywho, they rent the linens out for you also and I am having issues trying to figure out a good linen scheme.

Our colors are black and red and I was originally thinking black tablecloths with a red overlay or runner but both my mom and FI nixed that idea and said it seemed to dark and "gothic" for a summer wedding. I reeeeeally am against white table clothes because I feel with all the red accents that we have it will feel and look cheesy like Valentines Day. I am not completely against white being used- I would just want it to be very subtle if it was!

I have google imaged some stuff but haven't found anything that I was too impressed with! Sooo, I was going to see if any of you had any suggestions or ideas that I could look into?! Thank You!!! :)

How about black table cloths with white napkins and red centerpieces?

Here are some pictures I found.

Google "red white and black tables" and you'll get loads of pictures.

    I like Renee's last picture!

I feel like maybe a print, or pattern, or something other than just black will lighten the room a little and your mom and FI wouldn't think it was too "gothic".

I agree on the patterned one.   I actually used black tablecloths & napkins, with fuschia overlays, and a black and white damask runner at my wedding.   I think that same set up would look lovely with red instead of fuschia.  It looked like this:

A print or a pattern runner with your colors, on top of a black table cloth... that would be pretty and not too overbearing for a summer wedding!

Agree with Brianna.   Also, I just realzied how bright mine looks.. it should be noted that my reception was in the evening and was almost completely candle-lit... so it wasn't as bright as it looks.   =)

Tiffany - I think that it looks really pretty, even if it was that bright!  Those colors are awesome together.

I love Black Eyed Pea - yum!  I agree with PPs - you can use a black tablecloth with a patterned runner - it will give you a less Valentine's day look.

Here is a virtual tabletop you can play around with.  It's kind of fun.

Also when I was thinking of doing black and red, I was just going to use the linens that came with our venue and they were gold.  I was just going to use my colors in my flowers (red roses) and accessories (table numbers, favors, etc.).

I LOVE the patterned picture above!  Has the black and just enough white to not be too dark!

Thank you all so much for all the ideas, y'all are so helpful! (: This gives me a lot to go off of and I really like the idea of a printed or patterned runner/overlay, it would help to tone down the boldness of the black and red.

Our centerpieces are different sized black lanterns with candles in them and surrounded by red Gerbera Daisies/petals. So that will have to be taken into consideration, too! But, this gives me some ideas to experiment with and I really appreciate all of the suggestions!

I agree, I originally wasn't sure about a red tablecloth but I love that. I am such a visual person so it is nice to see pictures and for some reason I wasn't able to find many online. So thank you for all the pics!

since you are so against white....do red with a black overlay for table cloths. then highlight in red accents. i went to a good friend of mine from college, her wedding, she had a little mirror in the middle.  maybe do a small vase that sits ontop of the mirror with your red flowers. accent the black lanterns with red ribbon.

    sorry no picture :(
