Which place to buy flowers?

To save money we are DIYing the centerpieces. They will be 25 white roses in a round vase, super easy and practically impossible to mess up. That being said I was ready to order the flowers from Farmstogo.com, like several ladies here did. However, after Brianna posted about Sam's flowers it got me thinking. I did some research and here is what I found.

This is based on white roses, 45-50 cm stem length, and 750 roses (which is just a little more then we need).

Sam's Online = $539.32 (this includes the $40 membership charge)
Sam's Store = $611.80 (this includes the $40 membership charge)
Farmstogo = $494.10

It seems like an easy choice, but without that $40 membership charge Sam's online ends up only being $5.22 more then Farmstogo. With that membership I could also purchase our beer for the reception.

Sam's and Farmstogo both have great customer reviews too and the prices include shipping.

What would you do?

I voted for the store if that means you actually get to SEE the flowers beforehand--to me, that's worth the extra cost.

I wouldn't actually see any of the flowers until I picked them up or they were delivered.

I picked Sam's online because of the deal you can get on your beer, and purchases after that for a year.

I voted for farmstogo.com because my flowers from them arrived in excellent condition, and I was definitely satisfied with them.

I voted for the online Sam's, I've heard nothing but great things about them and if it helps you with other details to DIY it seems like a good idea to me.

I went to Market Street too and their prices were crazy high! I went to the one in Colleyville and the quote I was given was so high that I have actually gone to florists that have beaten their prices. Market Street will not be getting my business or recommendations!

I voted Farmstogo because I have seen good reviews on the place. If it was a crappy place, then it would have bad reviews. But I may have bias because I haven't been too impressed with Sam's or Costco whenever I have gone.

Sam's for sure (and thanks for the shout out!)

You can use your Sam's membership for and after the wedding too... it's just a bonus.

I voted other, only because I couldn't vote for them all. LOL

I think you should go with the store you feel most comfortable with.  I worked as a florist for a year, and the flowers get to every store the same way, in a big box!  so unless you know of a specific difference between the roses, like where they come from, who the grower is, even stuff like how long ago the box was delivered before you picked up the roses, all of the stores should be the same.

So the cheaper place will probably be just as good as the more expensive place.  But now you have to decide if you want a Sams membership! I have one... LOVE IT!

P.S. removing the thorns can be a pain... are you planning on doing this?  They make this hand held thorn remover, its not expensive at all, and makes the job fast and easy.

Beth, thanks for the info. I did know about the de-thorner and have some that I'm about to order and we will be wearing gardening gloves.

As far as how the flowers are shipped or from where I don't have that information so I don't know if there is a difference. I guess then, that settles it...I'm going to order from Sam's Online.

I talked to FI and he totally agrees. We've had a Sam's membership and never used it, but he knows that we will at least once for the beer so he thinks that would be the better move!

    Thanks for the help ladies!

Oh, ok, if you don't get to see the flowers beforehand then Sam's online is the way to go.
