Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Introduction and question

After several months of lurking throughout TK., I have decided to finally
introduce myself. My FI and I have been engaged since my birthday July 15th. We plan to wed in late summer or fall 2012. 95% the wedding guest will be from OOT. We prefer an all inclusive venue.  I live in Fort Worth and my FI in Arlington. He LOVEs Mediterranean Villa. We attended an open house there and it was really nice. I'm a little hesitant due to the reviews. We have looked at Chappelle de fleurs and Ashton Gardens as well. Though both these venues are very beautiful, they are some what too far out. Has anyone attended a wedding recently at mediterranean villa or have any info personally about this venue? My FI keeps telling me to be optimistic and not focus on the reviews.

I honestly don't remember any Knotties using Mediterranean Villa. I want to say that it's more expensive than some other all inclusive venues. Hopefully Stephie will be able to give you more info!
Have you looked into Piazza in the Village? I have heard lots of good things about them.

    Oh & Congrats & Welcome!

Thanks TexanTreasure. We received a proposal from Mediterranean and the price was cheaper than both Ashton and Chapelle de fleurs. I have not yet looked into Piazza. I will give it a look. Thanks.

I would try the Piazza as well. I don't know anyone who has used the venue at Mediterranean, But I found some information about them on Wedding Bee when I was looking at them.

    I would suggest that. :)

I don't have any personal information about MV--only the reviews and what I have heard (the most recent review on WW is from 2009).  I personally would be very hesitant to use a venue that requires that you use their catering and cake--if you can't taste the food beforehand, that would be a deal-breaker for me.  Also, while pretty, I don't think there is anything special about it and there are better venues for the money (Piazza and Ashton for example--both beautiful with mostly exemplary reviews).  But this is all JMO.

From the reviews, it appears that the experiences there are very hit or miss.  I would recommend that you hire your own wedding coordinator if you decide to go that route--from the reviews, it seems like this may help in dealing with any issues that may arise and may be the difference between a great experience and a bad one.

Have you looked at Artside in Mansfield?  It might be worth a look.

Have you compared catering costs? They might make up for their cheaper rental price in higher food costs.

I went to a wedding reception once at Mediterranean Villa (the ceremony was family only).  Personally, I didn't really like the look of the place.  But if you guys do, then your tastes are just different than mine!  I don't remember the food or cake being horrible or amazing.  I do remember the DJ was very good.

It was a coworker and just wasn't terribly memorable, so I'm having trouble giving you more detail.  Sorry!

Had to chime in quickly here even though we're still honeymooning based on Stephie's rec for The Aristide in Mansfield. While we didn't get married here, I had my bridals dome here and it's gorgeous!! That said, I have no idea what experiences are for an actual event.
