Transportation Question

I'm trying to find out if there are any inexpensive transportation options out there for us to consider.  We only need transportation from our reception to our hotel, which is about 5 miles.  Doesn't have to be super fancy, but we don't want to pay $200 for a 10 minute car ride.  I've tried to go through old reviews, Yelp, etc but can't find much.

Any thoughts?

Re: Transportation Question

  • Does your hotel have shuttle service? Or do they have someone they recommend (even a cab company?)

Most of the places I looked into for shuttle buses (including the one I ended up using) had a minimum of 2-4 hours on Saturday nights, so that would not help you.
  • I used our hotel car service.

They picked us up at the reception and then brought us back to the hotel.

I just rode from the hotel to the venue with a BM.

  • Execucar! They're a subsidiarie of Super Shuttle. I got a quote from them for the same thing and it was 50 for one of their town cars.

MarieSD -- We're on a Friday night but most places still had minimums.  I can't imagine paying for a 2 hour minimum to go 10 minutes.

Our hotel has a shuttle bus but I don't think they have a sedan or anything like that. :(

I've e-mailed one or two "executive" car services to see what they might offer.  One of them does have minimums on their nicer cars, but their Town Cars they do not.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I admit I am totally biased, since I took a shuttle bus to and from all my wedding events, but don't immediately dismiss the idea of the shuttle, especially if it's free! If you're doing a grand exit and don't think it would look so elegant for your guests to show you off into the shuttle, maybe they could park around the corner or something.

I really loved just being able to walk up onto a shuttle, not have to hoist up my dress, scrunch myself in the backseat of a car, rearrange, then do the whole process over again to get out.

Otherwise I like the PP's idea of the $50 sedan, which seems reasonable.
