Venue in Dallas - the Crescent or the Stoneleigh?

Hi Ladies - anyone have an opinion on a ceremony/reception at the Crescent or the Stoneleigh in Uptown? I can't decide....both are great options but very different. Just wondering if anyone has been to a wedding at either - thoughts?

Thanks!
Erin

We need to know more about your vision for your wedding.   I am assuming you are using the former residence at the Stoneleigh correct?  If so, do you like the idea of everyone being in different rooms with long halls?  Do you like the decor of the rooms there?  Is it somewhere your guests would be comfortable?  Etc

I didn't visit the Crescent but the Stoneleigh was our backup if our vnue wasnt available.  It was lovely :)

I considered the Stoneleigh for my venue but on the day of my appointment to see it, the coordinator called and said my date was gone.  I got married at the Melrose.

My boss was married at the Stoneleigh last October and as a guest, I loved it.  They had the entire penthouse and ballroom.  It was beautiful and the food was good.  The hotel has many great unique photo ops.

I am more of a fan of boutique hotels like the Stoneleigh and Melrose but that is just my taste.  I'm sure the Crescent would be lovely as well.

I went to a wedding in April at The Stoneleigh and LOVED it. It's very unique in terms of a great backdrop, but the layout can be crazy like Kendall mentioned. This couple got married in the ballroom, then had the reception scattered throughout the various rooms. Great food, great atmosphere!!

Thanks for your help!! I am feeling a little crazy trying to find an October venue so quickly. I was a little worried about the penthouse at the Stoneleigh b/c of the various rooms....not sure if guests scattered throughout different rooms would work out very well. Also, I couldn't find any chapels that had availability for the ceremony, so thought of tenting the downstairs patio off the restaurant....but not sure that is the best way to go.

I love the boutique hotel feel as well, but the Crescent surprised me in the fact that certain areas feel a little smaller and more cozy. I think I have now ruled the Crescent out....

I went and checked out The Mansion today - loved it. I just haven't liked the idea of the reception in a ballroom...know that sounds weird, but I had wanted something different. However, they will let us do the ceremony on the rooftop and then do the reception downstairs in the ballroom and the promenade. I thought that since the ballroom opens into the promenade, it provides a little more unique feeling.

My vision is - I don't know!! I have been focused on a tent or just an outside area.....with tons of candles and flowers. However I really like the idea of a hotel b/c it is easy for guests to stay if they want...etc.

I have read a lot of reviews on the Knot, but still wanting some opinions from you girls....if you have any thoughts on The Mansion...let me know. I really need a place that I can do the ceremony and reception in the same place, and clearly I am on a very short timeline.

    XO and Thank you!

The penthouse layout was cool I thought.  They had the ceremony in the ballroom, then used the entire penthouse for the cocktail hour while they turned the ballroom over for the reception.  It had a nice casual feel and I really liked it.  That ballroom on the penthouse level is a little smaller though--they only had 75 guests.  They used the penthouse suite as the waiting area before the ceremony.

I loved my hotel wedding.  We had our ceremony outside on the terrace and the reception downstairs in the ballroom and I thought it was perfect.  All of OOT guests stayed there and it was like we had the whole place to ourselves.

I looked at the Mansion online and thought it looked stuffy and I assumed it would be expensive.  However, I have since found out it's pretty reasonable and have seen a wedding posted here that was there and then kicked myself for not considering it! I love the idea of the ceremony on the roof and the reception downstairs. Sounds perfect to me.

I have no idea what bearing this has on their business currently, but the Cresent was sold.  Just something to consider when viewing these options.  I would ask how/if it affects anything.

Yes I saw that Rosewood was sold....which is the Crescent as well as The Mansion! I agree on the initial impression of expensive and stuffy....but I have been completely surprised how willing they are to work with me on pricing and venue options. Very flexible and willing to accomodate and come up with something that will work. I think I have decided on The Mansion! Thanks for your comments and help....very much appreciated.
