I personally am not feeling it.  You could wear those dresses to any nice black-tie event.  There's nothing special about them.  And to me, there is nothing more beautiful than white on a bride.

I do love a black sash on a dress though--like the one the girl wore in the Hangover.

I could see maybe the second one, as they suggested, for a fall/winter ceremony, but IMO whites/creams (even pastel pinks/blues and light grey) are proper wedding gown colors. (Note- proper for a Western culture wedding- I know other cultures have other beautiful colors that the brides wear per customs and availability of fabrics).

White traditionally represents purity going into your marriage. Black is usually a symbol of mourning- one I don't feel is appropriate for a bride on her wedding day.

That being said- I have seen a few ambitious brides wear Emerald Green dresses for their day and I think they look gorgeous. As for me- white is still my color of choice.

Interesting you said that, because I always thought that too... but that is actually not the case.

<div>You learn something new every day :) </div><div>I just remember hearing this a lot whenever I was in London before Kate and Will's wedding and the media was making a big stink saying that she shouldn't be allowed to wear white in Westminister since her and Wills had lived together previously. </div><div>Down with the English institution? lol</div>

I agree with Stephie about the black accents, but the entire dress? Not my thing. It's very...Black Swan to me. Very theatrical and stunning, but not in a bridal-associated way. I'm not wearing a pure white, but rather a darker ivory, because I would just look ghastly in an all-white gown. And I've seen the blush-pink dresses before, and those are very pretty, but I'm not sure I could ever associate a bride with a black dress. But that's just me

<div>Yeah, Queen Victoria was the first person documented to have worn a white wedding gown, and the tradition continues.</div><div>
</div><div>Edit: Also, those are pretty, but I can't imagine wearing one.  Did anyone ever see that episode of Whose Wedding Is It Anyway? with the goth bride, though?  She had her mother's dress remade into a black gown and I thought it was beautiful.</div>

I dont personally care for any of those. My friend did wear a beautiful black ballgown for her wedding, and requested that the guests wear white or creme. i'm pretty heavily tattooed and have always dressed on the darker side, but even I couldnt imagine wearing a black dress on my wedding day. I thought I would regret it later. But, to each their own!

My daughter swears she is going to get married in a red dress.  We saw a beautiful one at AA when we were dress shopping for my gown and she decided right then!

The dresses would perhaps look a little better if the styling of the models was something other than "night of the living dead". They look as if they have never been outside without the cover of darkness. I seriously considered a gown with black embroidery--gorgeous gown, just too much for my 5'2" frame.

I like them for the very, very non-traditional bride. I think it will give her way more options... however, i could never picture wearing one at my wedding.... I think I would probably gasp loudly if I ever saw someone walk down the aisle in one... just from pure shock
