Bloomingdale's registry issues

I'm registered at Bloomingdales for my fine china place settings, and serving pieces in that same pattern. Shower invitations went out last week so I've been checking the registry pretty often (almost embarrassingly often) and as of yesterday, my place settings were not available online, but were available in store. The serving pieces and accent plates were still available online. This had me panicking a bit, because most of our guests don't live near Bloomingdale's and a great many prefer shopping online anyay.

I checked today before calling a store and asking about it, and the place settings are once again available online, as are all the other pieces. I plan on calling tomorrow and asking someone at Bloomie's about this, but thought I'd check here as well.

Has anyone run into this with Bloomingdale's? Should I be worried about screw ups if guests buy in the store vs. online?

Yes, this happened to us with our Bloomie's registry (we are registered for our basics there - sheets, towels, pots/pans).  About a week after we registered (last summer), virtually every single item was unavailable for online purchase.  I called our contact there and she told me there was a computer glitch of some sort, but that everything would get straightened out.  Sure enough, a day or two later, everything was back online.

It's been kind of frustrating, since it happened a couple more times since then.  In addition, we have gotten a number of duplicate gifts from that registry, which was a little annoying, although I'm not sure if that was a Bloomie's related glitch or the gift giver just chose to buy the gift a second time (sounds crazy, but we are registered for our fine china somewhere else and it is showing that a platter we registered for has been bought twice, so I think sometimes people might override what the registry shows).

I'd still call them and express your concern, but I do think you will be OK.  Worst case scenario, someone will get you a gift card there and you can buy some stuff later on...we'll be doing that!
  • I'm glad to know this wasn't just me! Thanks so much.
