decisions decisions

I have 4 places that I am trying to chose from for my registry.  The pampered Chef ( Online) Macys, Crate and Barrel, and Bed Bath and Beyond.  My friend is a pampered chef consultant- and I already told her that I would do a registry with her ( not my top choice but im trying to help her out).  I originally was going to do macys and bed bath and beyond. Now I think I want to do Macys and Crate and barrel.  My mom will probably flip b/c she had already said that bed bath and beyond is "lower price range" - some people cant afford Crate and Barrel.  I have been hearing bad things about Bed Bath and Beyond lately im getting wishy washy!   Anyone have any suggestions? What would you do??

Re: decisions decisions

  • I registered at Macy's, Crate & Barrel, and Bed Bath & Beyond.  So far, Crate & Barrel has been the most popular registry by far.  BB&B has been the least popular.

I found that there is a lot of overlap between what Macy's and BB&B carry.  BB&B has a good selection of china and crystal.  There were some items we found at BB&B that were much less expensive than the identical item at Macy's.

Have you considered not doing Macy's?  I know a department store is a traditional place to register, but if you are concerned about prices, BB&B has a lot of the same items cheaper.  Ultimatley it's your decision.  Do you have much of a sense of where your friends and family like to shop?

I did Macy's, BBB and C&B as well.  For us, the BBB registry was used the most, by far.  I think it is because of the 20% off coupons everyone gets, makes it very attractive.  I also noticed a lot of overlap between Macy's and BBB, and BBB prices are lower on a consistent basis.  I like that about them too, so that way the guests always get it at a low price instead of having to wait for sales at Macy's.  In fact, we would not have registered at Macy's, but BBB did not carry the china pattern we wanted.  That is the only reason we registered there.

Are you sure you want to do the Pampered Chef one?  I hope you like their stuff.  I went to a sales party once and I hated the whole concept.  And I didn't find there stuff to be anything special.  If you do register there, just PLEASE do not do a Pampered Chef shower where your friend does the sales pitch and then tries to get people to order presents for you at the party.  Those are horrible!
  • I had no problems with my BBB registry, and it was by far the most popular of our three registries.  As a PP said, BBB and Macy's carry many of the same items, but BBB has them cheaper, so it made much more sense for us to skip Macy's.  As for the Pampered Chef registry, I would skip it.  I know you already promised your friend, but I find most of their items to be overpriced, and the only things I have from there are items that I couldn't find anywhere else.  I would probably shop from one of your other registries, or find a similar product at BBB for cheaper, rather then shop from a PC registry.  And definitely don't have a PC shower - it is extremely awkward for the guests.

  • Wow girls! Thanks for the input! I really appreciate it! Does it seem to gift grabby to do the 4 registries though?  I might consider skipping macys- I cant skip the pampered chef- I would feel too bad!  And no I would definitely not do a party where my guests would come- too awkward!! I agree.
  • Most people agree that you should do 2-3 registries, at the most.  4 registries does tend to come off as gift grabby.
  • Megan, I never know why people think C&B is expensive. BB&B has expensive china, stemware, pots and pans, etc.....C&B has awesome stuff at ALL different price ranges, many items at $20-30!
  • We did BB&B, C&B, and Sears.  BB&B was the most popular due to the coupons and we had no problems with them at all.

4 registries does some gift grabby, I would stick with 2-3.

  • Myregistry.com...The answer to all your problems. I am registering here and so did all my friends. You'll be able to add items from all the stores you'd like to.
