Registering tomorrow help!!!!

We are registering tomorrow at BBB, and I'm worried I'm going to go overboard, any advice?? I have pretty much a list of items I know I want and a list I want to look at different brands of. I'm worried I'm going to get overwhelmed and not make the right choices..mainly registering for pots and pans..fine china..servewear, bakewear the usual..I don't want to look too gift grabby when registering for fine china..both of our sides of family are about 8 ppl all together but I'm afraid it will look like way too much to register for all that should I only register for 5 place settings to start?

Re: Registering tomorrow help!!!!

  • The standard for formal china is about 10-12 placesettings but you need to do what's comfortable for you. As long as you register for enough items in different price ranges, you needn't worry about looking too greedy.

It's a wish list and if people judge you based on what you register for, then they shouldn't be a part of your life. That's just ridic.

As for cookware, make sure you know what you prefer to cook with whether it's nonstick or stainless. Feel the pans and make sure they're comfortable for you and decide if dishwasher safe is a big deal or not. Most nonstick pans aren't dishwasher safe so that might be a huge factor to some couples.

And just relax and have fun with it. It's not like you have to complete your registry in a day. You can edit it online throughout the process or keep coming back to your local store to add items. It's as much fun as you want it to be so good luck and enjoy tomorrow!
  • You just posted the same thing yesterday...

Regarding place settings... Get 8 if you need 8. It's not gift grabby. Additionally, if your wedding has passed and you still need a couple, people can still give them to you as gifts for Christmas or birthdays since BBB keeps your registry open. Register for what you really want. Otherwise people will buy you things you don't want.

When you say you are worried about not making the right choices - do you mean that you are worried about choosing, for example, which is the best blender? If that is the case, you can scan several blenders in store, and then later you can go online to compare the reviews and remove whichever one you like the least.

I don't want to look too gift grabby when registering for fine china..both of our sides of family are about 8 ppl all together but I'm afraid it will look like way too much to register for all that should I only register for 5 place settings to start?

8 place settings is not a lot. Many people register for 10 or 12. It is unlikely that one person will buy all 8 of your place settings, so you're not costing anyone more money by registering for the amount that you want. Besides, I would think most of your guests know you well enough to know how big your families are.

Try not to be overwhelmed, registering should not cause you a great deal of stress. You can always go back to add items in store or online if you change your mind about anything.

  • This is also why BBB has registry consultants. They can help you make decisions on items because they have a lot of knowledge about their products, and if they don't, they can call over a co-worker who does know about the product you are looking at. Our consultant helped us make a lot of great decisions, and so far all of the items she helped us pick out have been exactly as good as she told us they would be.
  • 8 is not a lot of place settings. My mom and aunt both have the Lenox holiday pattern and they both only have 5 place settings - they're always borrowing from one another!!!! My cousin registered for 16 at her wedding 10 years ago and sometimes RUNS OUT! Register for what you need.

  • I registered for 10 place settings. If they get bought out, I will up it to 12, but thats all I ever see us needing. If you forsee yourself hosting large gatherings or have a large family, register for more. Dont get too overwhelmed, I would advise to not try to get it done all in one day, you can go back as many times as you want and edit online.
