Lowes/home depot?

Is it ok to regisiter for Lowes or Home Depot gift cards if you plan to build a house or buy a fixer upper?

Re: Lowes/home depot?

  • I have read on a couple differrent posts that Lowes and Home Depot don't have national registries anymore.  I could be wrong. We just did word of mouth.  If people asked we responded with something like. Them:  Congratulations, Where are you two registered?"Us:  "Thank you so much,  we have a very small registry at Macy's, and we are just about to start renovating the house so we would love gift cards to Home Depot or Lowes."This way if they were uncomfortable getting us a gift card they could always buy some towels at Macys.  Hope that helps
  • You shoudl not register for gioft cards that is just asking for cash that can only be spent in a certain store. If you want certain items say a drill or saw from home depot or lowes that is fine to register for but registry for cash is not cool
  • While it is perfectly fine to register at these stores (whether or not they have national registries I don't know) but I would be put off if a couple only registered for giftcards. I think a better way to do it would be register for supplies you might need (maybe tools, etc) and then if someone asks you can spread by word of mouth that giftcards would also be appreciated.
  • They do not do registries. You could prob register for tools and the like at Sears though.
  • She's right, both stores have eliminated their registries. I'm not really much of a Sears fan but we registered there in order to get tools and household items (ladders, mower, etc) that we could really use.
  • Home Depot has a wish list. We used myregistry.com and registered for the actual items we want from Lowe's and Home Depot. For big ticket items (such as washer and dryer), we noted that gift cards in any dollar amount, so we can work toward purcashing that item, would also be great.
