Registry help – Store suggestions: BB&B and …?

Hi! We finally started a registry; we have been putting it off, but definitely planned to have this checked off by Thanksgiving.     Anyways – we started at Bed Bath and Beyond simply because it feels like that’s the place you should go.     And we are also doing a honey moon registry for experiences (candle-lit dinners, pancake breakfasts, massages, tickets to historical sites, etc. NOT for upgrades to our hotel).     But need another suggestion – ideally some place that has electronics, but just another store – ie, Macy’s, JC Penney, Sears, Home Depot, Target, even Best Buy.     Do you girls have any feedback on those stores? Where else do you recommend as a place to register, especially since we are keeping the BB&B and honeymoon registries.     Which additional place?    TIA!

  • You can register on Amazon, which has a bajillion different things, and you can link your BBB registry to it, I think.

  • Thanks for the suggestion - but we'd really prefer an actual store. Figure that those that are capable of going online, would select from the honeymoon registry.
  • Figure that those that are capable of going online, would select from the honeymoon registry. Do not assume this.  I love shopping online and would always choose that option as opposed to in-store but I find HM registries so incredibly rude (since the couple is pretty much asking for my cash) that I would never buy from one.Amazon is a great place to register, especially for electronics.  You could also try REI if you like outdoors stuff.  Best Buy, to my knowledge, does not have a registry and while Target has electronics their return policy and registries get a lot of complaints.
  • my fiance' and i registered at dillards, BB&B, and pottery barn. dillards b/c we shopped around for our china pattern, and that was the dept store that had it the cheapest - plus lots of great kitchen items and small appliances. pottery barn can be pretty expensive, so i just registered for a few decor-kinds of things there - candle sticks, baskets, vases etc. and BB&B i saved for the little kitchen gadgets and linens. we also really wanted to register at a home improvement store, since we just bought a house and don't really have any basic tools. but lowe's phased out their registy (they wouldn't allow you to start a registry past july) and i'm pretty sure home depot doesn't have a registry either. so we had a couple's shower and some of the guests ended up buying 'guy' things like tools anyway. i've found that most guests have bought presents from BB&B so far, but that might have something to do with the convenience of the store here versus our dillards and pottery barn. hope this helps!
  • I am two seconds away from deleting my Sears Gift Registry.  I just need to figure out what store to use instead.  So......I went into a Sears store this past Saturday to get some help with my ongoing registry issues and also figured that scanning items in the store would be easier.  Honestly, just thinking of typing what I experienced that day makes me tired.  To make a horribly long, painful story short.....The Manager said he'd call back in two days.  He didn't.  I tried to call him today, but he is not working at the store and won't be back until tomorrow.  I tried calling Sears Customer Service line and spent 20 minutes on the phone with a woman who eventually gave me the number to the Canadian Sears Gift Registry helpline (I live in the US) and the web address for Consumeraffairs.com (I guess she wanting me to lodge a complaint against Sears.)  Horrible, horrible experience.  And, now that I am researching the Sears Registry on-line, it appears that no one has anything nice to say about it.
  • In my neck of the woods, Macy's is, and always has been, the go-to registry. Whenever I find out someone's getting married, it's instinctual to get their registry from Macy's. So I would add that store for nice linens, china, crystal, etc. I can't stand BB&B, though, so my suggestion might not help you.Amazon.com is a great place to register.Other places we're registering are Crate & Barrel and Sur la Table.
