Target registry - hacked

Please be cautious of your Target registries! We just found out that for at least 2 days, there have been FIVE PAGES of BABY items on our WEDDING registry! I am not pregnant, so either someone hacked into our account and thought it would be a funny joke, or there was a computer glitch. Our wedding's on Saturday and it's Tuesday today, so needless to say, I have better things to do with my time than email and call everyone to say that we're not having a baby. It's unbelievable how many people saw that in just a span of 2 days. Please be careful with your registries! Target gives you a password, but please change it right away. I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through this hassle the week of their wedding!

Re: Target registry - hacked

  • Your account was not hacked.  This happened to me as a result of a sales associate not properly clearing the scanner after we used it and before someone scanned for their baby registry.  I feel horrible that the other person registered for all those things and now they're gone.
  • Thanks so much for your message! I didn't get any help calling Target, so I'm glad I finally know what happened!
  • OMG that happened to my best friend as well, I was teasing her about her FI scanning baby stuff as a joke and she was like no he didn't I was there the whole time. I had to log on to prove it to her, she was so confused.
  • This happened to me! We registered about 3 months ago, and I went today to update something (we had to buy something ahead of time) abnd needless to say I noticed that we had some of the most ridiculous things on there, that netither he NOR I put on there. It wasn't a problem with the scanner, because I still had the original prin out from the day we went and registered. :( Darn target. I guess it's just "technology".
  • OMG this happened to my best friend. When she got home from work the week before the wedding she called me freaking out because somehow there was a pink lace thong and matching bra on her registry! Turns out her SIL had purchased them (for her lingere shower) along with items for her wedding gift and when the employee scanned the registry, somehow the undies and bra showed up. We still don't know how but she was very upset (her FI family is very very religous and she thought they'd be offended) and Target offered no apologies.

  • Happened to us too! I was checking our registry as soon as we got home and noticed a baby changing table on ours! And 3 other items that we scanned either didn't show up or said they were unavailable. I deleted those items, found them online and re-added them. Turns out they ARE available!

  • Oddly enough, when I did my baby registry at Target, a good chunk of my stuff never showed on the final printout but several boy items did.... even though we were having a girl and scanned all girl stuff.  I despise Target.  lol
  • This is crazy. I looked on my wed registry and it had 2 DVD of RATATOUILLE and they were marked as fulfilled, so either someone purchased it and I am going to be surprised withthis as a wedding/shower gift or something else happened, but I thought how odd is that because I did not put it on our list and FI did not put it on our list.
  • This kind of stuff happens at a lot of places.  If someone purchases stuff off your registry, but they purchase other things along with it and the cashier scans your registry, the other stuff shows up on your registry as fulfilled.
