strategy?

FH and I are starting our registries this weekend. After much debate we agreed on Pattery Barn, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Lowe's (Can you pick FI's vote?) I'm a control freak and nervous about over lapping, or missing out on something I loved because I registered at another store. So, how did you get started... and how did you keep track if what you registered for and where? I'm having major anxiety over this.

Re: strategy?

 • I haven't gone to register yet, but I was hoping they'd print us a list of what we'd registered for. Then we'd pull it out at the next store to double check and make sure they didn't overlap. If I were in your situation, I'd go to Lowe's 2nd so he can cheer up after the first store.
 • All the places we registered at have an online option.  It's easy to go over the lists after you've registered and make sure there aren't any overlaps.  In fact we purposely registered for the same items at multiple stores to compare them later.I know BBB and Pottery Barn have online registries, I'm not sure about Lowe's but I can't imagine there to be a problem with overlap with Lowe's.

 • Thanks for your insights guys. You're always a wealth of wisdom. I'm gonna make a list, check it off and not worry about it so much :) Lowe's has a registry on-line... I hope they have one in the store as well. FH wants a leaf blower in the worst way.

 • Amazon has a registry checklist that is really useful. No need to register for everything but includes some useful stuff you might not think of.

 • My FI wants to register at Home depot or Lowes and I laughed at him. I didn't realize you could really register there. LOL.

 • I don't think Lowe's does a registry (I know Home Depot doesn't)... I'd call before you go over there and disappoint your FI.I used a check list and got a printed copy when I was done.

 • Jinxed... I check into it. Lowe's has an on-line option, and their 'flagship' stores have them. It depends on the store or the area I guess.
