Gift/price adjustment

We registered for dishes at Crate and Barrel, and earlier this week, someone bought ALL of them (all 12 place settings). Well today Crate and Barrel put all their dishes and stemware on 25% off. I kinda feel bad for the person who just bought all our dishes, cause that's a $150 difference. My shower is this weekend. If someone gives the dishes, should I pull them aside and mention this to them so they can go back and get a price adjustment? (I would probably word it like "oh, we were at CandB last night and saw that the dishes were on sale, maybe you should look into getting a price adjustment"). Or should I just not worry about it?

Re: Gift/price adjustment

  • I would just not worry about it.  It's more of an inconvenience for your guests to take back the gifts, get a price adjustment, and bring the gifts back to you.
  • It's very thoughtful of you to consider doing this for your guest.  But I agree with PP, just write a very personal thank you note, since their gift is very generous (even if they did get the 25% discount).

  • Thanks guys. They actually were delivered today. A bunch of people went in on them (many thank yous to write!), one of which gets a CandB discount, so I don't feel so bad anymore! :D

  • I noticed that too - just in time for us to get married and complete our registry! Our dishes have been purchased but we still have some stemware left. Congrats on your gift!

  • Thanks! We haven't put any stemware on the registry, so I'm thinking we might add some ;)

  • Some may disapprove of this, but if you have the gift recipet or packing slip, you can go to C&B yourself and as long as it's been within 2 weeks of the purchase, you can get the price adjustment yourself in form of store credit.

    For $150, I totally would!
